cant agree from memory Rors shared the same opinion as me when watching it

he literally was the last pick in the 2013 draft at pick 97. he's another relatively short mid at 183cm. extremely vanilla. i wouldnt even waste a rookie spot on him. it'd be like recruiting curren again.

i'd prefer to keep the ones up in the air, so they can be delisted next year. rather than take him on and clog the list. you cant delist everyone, you need to stagger the delistings so you can bring through the talent every year
He's the same size as Luke Dunstan (184), hardly a small mid.

Definitely don't want to delist everyone, but if it's between him and Murdoch, I'm choosing Barrett to be honest

Jon Ralph on SEN reckons mitch brown straight swap for Billy is a good deal.

Seriously, how do some of these peanuts get a job? Can we please throw Acres in as well?

One is a broken down plodder and the other is a young up and coming ruckman. Blind Freddy can see who has the greater value.

**** wit!
Why would Billy even come into the equation when talking about an unrestricted free agent?!

Geez that guy is just a complete **** wit

i reckon its pretty short... given our lack of height in there already. who are you going to move out of the inside brigade to make room for barrett?

as for murdoch, i'd prefer to keep him on and delist him next year! who are you going to delist next year, given we normally take on 3-5 players every year

In a nutshell;

JS hasn't made his decision yet.
GWS B&F this Friday to attend & then he'll make the call
Mgr has spoken to multiple clubs about JS

but most importantly Jack broke his 5th metatarsal in his foot. His manager strangely mentioned that it's a difficult injury in that he could be out for 6-8 weeks or 3+months.

Goneski for mine. Players who stay sign, players who wait for after B&F leave. Steele for future 2nd rounder done by wednesday 12/10 2pm is my guess.
Would love him on our list. Rors is that injury not too concerning?

He's a Tom Curren. Gets plenty of ball, is very contested, but is an absolute ball butcher & would struggle with decision making & the speed of AFL level

Would any of you guys be happy to redraft Curren? Or another way to look at it, would you want to pick up a poorest mans Rhys Palmer?

Because that is exactly what Jake Barrett is. Mark Whiley v2.0 is probably the best comparison

Barrett's just shy of 21, so Armitage eventually, but right now he'd be depth, and for the right price there's nothing wrong with that.

He's no priority, but he's not someone to be dismissed out of hand either IMO.

Broke his 5th metatarsal? What was that blokes name on here who got that 100% correct then? ;)
Still worth getting, or just another Freeman now?

no point recruiting a bloke who wont improve the side IMO no matter what the price

like you've said in the past the list of players taken from GWS isnt exactly good reading

steele i get, can play multiple positions and has the attributes to be a very good mid. hence why he was rated highly in his draft year. barrett its inside mid or bust, has no other string to his bow and is very meh. Hrovat would be a better option which is saying something given Hrovats height

They said he'd had it pinned, so it usually heals very well

MyPortalFiles

I'd like to say, getting insight like this from people obviously qualified to give their opinion on a topic such as current injuries to players.. Makes scrolling through all these pages of shitposts (somewhat) worth it!!

Keep up the good work, Rors.

Lets say we get Steele,

Acres - 190
Steele - 187
Ross - 187
Billings - 185
Dunstan - 184

Compare that to the Premiers and they really only have Bont and Macrae over 185 cm's so I don't see how that's a problem.

I see Barrett being a depth player to start with, but he has potential to become a player. Much better than keeping guys on our list that we know just wont be good enough.

Best example of what to expect for Steele is Mitch Duncan; Duncan is 188cm 88kg, Steele is 187cm 88kg.

Duncan broke the same metatarsal - the 5th - last year, missed 8 games, struggled with fitness on his return and did a calf, but played every game this season and averaged 23 possessions and 4.6 tackles (even after additional surgery on his Achilles).

I reckon Steele will be fine.

Why would we swap someone who is a free agent anyway?????? That is beyond dumb!

"is st kildas list any better than port adelaides" "no its not" *everyone agrees*

hmmmmm thats gotta be debatable given the results this year

Seriously it doesn't matter how bad clubs like Port go the media will always claim they have better lists than us.

Bet any money if you asked them to rate the lists 1-18 we'd be below not only Port, but Melbourne (which is debatable I guess), Essendon, Collingwood, Carlton and GC too.

ok so who you see moving out of the inside brigade here to make room for him by 2020 (4 seasons time):
Armitage (32)
Steven (30)
Dunstan (25)
Ross (27)
Acres (24)
Steele (24)

how many would you carry on the bench? remembering players now get rested in other positions so need to be multi positional, due to the interchange cap/management

Steven, Steele and Acres aren't solely inside players though. All provide run and breakaway from packs

i agree, they are multi positional, which barrett isnt, which is part of my argument isnt it?

i reckon instead of grabbing a list clogger like barrett, we could find another inside mid in the next 2-3 drafts/trade periods

Even if all we end up with is Steele for a future second and take pick 10 to the draft I'd be happy. Although I think we'll be getting a free agent defender and it will be one of the Browns, (most likely Mitch). So Carlilse and Brown, Steele and pick 10 will be nice additions to the list....
