There are plenty of players that celebrate goals in a similar way to Betts. While Eddie's goal celebrations tend to be very much "look at me", if he has just kicked a great goal then why not.

Despite the SA media's over hyping of everything Eddie Betts I agree with Power Girl that Eddie is actually humble. If you can't see that because he plays for the Crers then fair enough.

Yep: if Betts had come to Port, we'd love his celebrations. Of course the media wouldn't have worshipped him quite as much......

Father and son on AA this am were pissed off at Port taking Brett Eddy as a rookie. Said we are abusing the rookie list and that young ones deserve chance, not Eddy. Also said he is being ripped off by being paid a pittance and having to give up his broker job. Younger Cornes said what the criers have done by taking young Jarman is perfect as he can quietly go about his #organicgrowth as a rookie.

Yeah, his 'conspiracy against SA' argument doesn't really explain why Port and the Crows, with 9 picks between them, picked 0 SA lads.

Betts is an enourmous figjam on the field, and his celebrations deliberately antagonise opposition supporters. I've never seen Chad do that. He's probably also already put his head over the ball more times than Eddie.

Betts is as amazing player, but he is fortunate to be playing for a side that still uses 1980s inflexible structure. Not many things irk me as much as the Chad - Eddie comparisons.

Good guy off the field though, agreed.

All football clubs have ulterior motives with their community and charity arms. No point throwing stones from a glass house, unless you are keeping it to the media portrayal and nothing more.

There is a bit of truth to what Cornes says given the 18 clubs have to contribute around $600,000 each to run the TAC U/18 comp and they all employ a lot of specialists to make sure these kids are prepared for the draft at seasons end or next season if you have an U/17 kid playing. Of course he can't help go on about conspiracy theories but the U/18 comps in states outside the TAC cup can't really compete with that sort of production line given the available resources.

What are their 12 - 14 TAC Cup clubs? So that means about $1m a year each. $1mil a year is what it costs to run the Magpies and some junior programs. Give Port $1m to run an U/18 team and I reckon we could produce 4 to 6 draftees each year.
