I saw Charlie Dixon at the Alexisonfire concert the other night.

Makes you think. ...

Was concerned that the guy who killed those people in Melbourne might be a crows supporter when I heard he was from SA. Found his facebook page, turns out he is a collingwood supporter. I didn't want to have anything in common with that shit stain.

Aren't we meant to be concerned for him, he's obviously afflicted with a mental illness. It's hard to know when I'm expected to want people to be held accountable for their actions or when I get to point the finger at a failing society or under resourced mental health system. Modern life is so complicated.

What the **** does this post mean?

Are you using a moment of real tragedy to make some kind of pissant political point?

Pathetic.

I'd expect that of a shit bloke like Leyonhjelm, but thought better of normal people on this board.

we had Man Haron Monis a few years ago, the coach of our footy club being murdered by his own son in a drug induced psychosis and now this.

details are still emerging, but much like the previous incidents its sounds like a very similar falling through the cracks/could have been prevented situation.

now it might seem callous to you, but when would you prefer we start having this overdue conversation? Reasonable thoughts to air I would have thought.

Believe it or not, a person can have a mental illness and be a shit stain. He believed the world was ending, that's might be mental illness, but because the world was ending he wanted to drive through a crowded footpath, because it was just something he wanted to do before he died, that makes him a shit stain. He believed his brother was gay, that could be mental illness, he thought all gay people should be executed, so he stabbed his brother, this makes him a shit stain. Also the long history of domestic violence makes him a shit stain.

What mental illness possibly excuses that behaviour?
None

And if I hear anyone say he had a bad upbringing blah blah I may just hit them!

The judge that gave him bail should also be held responsible.

I'm over these self indulgent dangerous idiots putting innocent people at risk.

If this evil freak managed to drive a car he knew what he was doing.

**** him.

Your crime is your crime.

I don't give a shit whether you're in a cell or a rubber room, you're off the street.

And if the negligence of any government policy leads to someone with a violent mental disorder being on the streets, then they deserve all of the wrath that gets focused on them.

People have the right to be healthy and safe.

The do-gooders have had their chance.
People have had a gutful.
Stop building bullshit underpasses and art galleries for hospitals and build more jails.

Dish out penalties that fit the crime.

Can't stand him but I understand why Trump has got where he's got.

this isn't about excusing people who have committed crimes, its about preventing them before they happen.

every time this happens the backstory comes out and there are about 100 red flags all over the place. Where's the safety net? Why aren't these people getting help? Instead the runaway train gathers momentum and the result is terrible for everyone.

I believe it because for every one person that goes over the top there are more than 10 that show the same signs but refuse for whatever reason to give in.
It easy to find a back story after the fact than write a story before it happens.
Remember Stories about the how the system helps or stop action like this are not newsworthy. But that does not mean it happening.
There are people walking around daily working in high profile jobs that have been down some dark paths.

This guy was a gutless coward and nothing will change that fact,

You can't stop all the bad stuff, sometimes it does just happen.

As far as the 'build more jails' goes... Very simplistic and not very well thought out imo - do you think that would make everyone safer?

Sent from my SM-G900I using Tapatalk
absolutely, but Christ look at what happened to Walshy, his son had been diagnosed with mental issues and prescribed medication which he wasn't taking while living with his parents and they had no bloody idea about it because he's an adult? How many different ways could that have gone?

And all those "back stories " are excuses.
Stuff it.

The simple fact that not everyone that has been in "dark places " goes out and commits heinous crimes shows clearly that the people that do are simply evil.

Undiagnosed or not - he knew exactly what he was doing.

Enough.

can you read? No one is making excuses, lock him up for life, you won't get an argument from me.

if its so clear that some people are simply evil though what's being done to try and identify them before they go out and kill people? Not enough you might suggest.

maybe its just ideological and impossible, but locking up the guilty after the fact isn't going to bring back any of the dead. When patterns are emerging perhaps its possible to break the cycle.

Harsher penalties and truth in sentencing for a start may actually
deter some of those thinking they might get away with this kind of anti social dangerous behaviour because their dad left their mum when they were 5.
