I've had a bad day on the tennis front...

Firstly, I only just found out my beloved Anna Ivanovic has retired. I just assumed I didn't see her in the Aussie Open because she'd been knocked out early as per usual.

Then tonight I thought I might have actually found an Aussie player worthy of being a tennis crush, only to discover she's married to Tyrone Vickery. I can't respect a girl with such poor taste in footballers.

I thought this was a joke but I just saw Green's comments.

Unbelievable that a guy fronting the 'one punch' campaign would say that. So unbelievable that I actually went looking for multiple sources to make sure it wasn't from a satire site. So was he only in those ads for the money then? Because that sure isn't the sort of consistent message I'd expect from someone who was actually genuine about their cause.

So what's his next ad going to say? "Take it from me, one punch can end his life and ruin yours. Unless you're just lashing out at a pussy with a weak chin, then go for it brah!"
I did the exact same thing. I assumed it must have been a joke, or satire, or a horrible misquote. Just a bizarre statement so at odds with his previous stance.

Bernard Tomic, waste of life.

On the one hand I feel a sliver of sympathy for him...he's done nothing but play tennis since early childhood and I imagine he probably didn't have a choice to quit even if he wanted to (his dad's in the classic Dokic basket). On top of that he's been played to a tee by the media - build him up and shower him with adulation and then sell more papers cutting him down. I don't know why people are surprised that he has a god complex when he's been told by all and sundry for a decade that he's the best thing to ever happen to Australian tennis.

On the other hand, the blokes still a genuine campaigner and probably would be even if he was laying bricks for a living.

He still has the choice to not be a total campaigner, but yes, dad probably didn't help.

If Kokinakis can keep fit he will be the one to lead this generation. Dude is the complete package.

I can't help but admire Tomic's honesty though. Just doesn't give a ****.

I guess it's no different from anyone else who has the philosophy of 'work to live not live to work'. His job is just a lot more fun.

Yeh you're probably right. I guess I just find the hypocrisy of the media galling.

Kokkinakis is definitely the next hope, although call me crazy but I haven't completely given up on Kyrgios.

The penny dropped for him in 2015 but we still didn't rate him and we were wrong.
I've posted this before but thought it pertinent again.

I have a friend who at the time in 2015 was a paid scout for an eastern states club...won't mention which. His club was adamant that Menegola was gold and being overlooked for games unfairly by fremantle. Then sent him along to peel game after peel game to watch menegola and his reports back were always along the lines of. "no, don't want."

My friend is probably the most knowledgeable person in the footy world I know after Ron Alexander, and Antoni Grover...yes I do know them. So I'll take his word on this any day that he didn't rate Menegola at all.

I hate Danny Green, but I agree with him here, Bugg was incredibly unlucky

But that's the whole point of the one punch campaign - that you can't control the consequences so you shouldn't throw them in the first place.

To then disregard that and comment on this as if he was analysing a legitimate boxing match is completely inconsistent with what he's supposed to be promoting.

To then completely disregard that and comment on this as if he was analysing a legitimate boxing match is a huge error in judgement.
Oh yes, he's a massive knob and 100% in it for his image

Your friend has nothing on a couple of the guys one here - they see things that nobody else sees, and will argue you to the death to prove how clever they are.

The memes just write themselves sometimes.

Plus a 33 year old ex-AFL player, which I assume is Jake King given it was outside his tattoo parlour and he is 33 years old. May be some other 'ex-AFL' player though.

I really hope the media appoint themselves judge and jury in this matter and find these thugs guilty without fair trial or due process.

Your friend must be really shit at his job then because Menegola played for Subiaco in 2015, not Peel.

I wonder which poor sod he was watching at Peel thinking he was Sam Menegola?

Menegola came 3rd in the Sandover in 2015 and only played 12 games. 44 points from 12 appearances. If your "friend" watched him in 2015 and thought he was shit then your friend has no idea.

Maybe they only sent 'Scoop' out to cover the Peel v Subiaco games?

Danny Green - They drove a dump truck full of money up to my house! I'm not made of stone!

1. subiaco or peel is my mistake in telling the story not his.

2. Whatever floats your perception bias boat...

If that's true and he's guilty.. Vickery career is done. Not an A grade player. Hawthorn will want to move on from him anyway
There is that Richmond bikie "criminal element" link again that surfaced with D. Martin a few years back. I would hate our club to have anything like this in it's background.

The Sandover isn't the best measure of AFL talent though, is it? Kane Mitchell won it FFS.
