They are all based in victoria and pander to their local market. It's big news if a local boy wants to come home, but much less so if a player changes local clubs, and less again if he leaves victoriaIt is interesting though the general group think that happens with AFL 'journos'. Dustin Martin, free agent is still unsigned, but according to Fat Hutchy and Lyon hes going to stay so its no concern even considering million dollar offers elsewhere. But for Lever every man and his dog expects him to leave the hovel that is SA to return to the mighty prictoria. Is it purely self interest or is it hard for these AFL flogs to predict the future when all they can see is the inside of their colons. Martin barely cops a mention yet Lever is front page news. Strange considering the danger jerkfest 2 years ago, yet martin is in better form than Danger ever was. The VFL makes me sick.
I get that, but it is a national comp with national agendas. Wheres the accountability for bias. Not even our local rag provides an alternate viewpoint for balance, they just shit stir the masses. Some point in the future the AFL will have to decide to continue on the well trodden path of hypocrisy or diverge to a fair go for all. The victorian media saturation, 10 prictorian teams, AFL grand final locked into the MCG, MCG cheaper food prices, Under 18 funding, academy systems and the father son advantages are all things that need a complete overhaul. Yet we all lap it up and continue tickling the AFL's nurry bag by showing up, which they then have the audacity to talk about equalisation! Honestly, AFL GAGF. Also i suspect that they sometimes/often influence outcomes eg danger vs gibbsI get that, but it is a national comp with national agendas. Wheres the accountability for bias. Absolutely no doubt about it. Its a joke. Also i suspect that they sometimes/often influence outcomes eg danger vs gibbs
The common theam with all successful (by this I mean consistently at the top or winning multiple premierships) is that players make sacrifices by taking less pay.
This holds true if they're already at the club or being traded to the club.
Players who go to the highest bidder need to think do I want just money, or do I want success. By taking the greatest amount of cash they are reducing the chance that the club they're at (and themselves) will have success.
Players also need to remember the halo effect of being at a successful club. Do people really think Lingy or Brian Lake would have media jobs if they didn't win a premiership or two.
Sacrifice now can pay off later.
Do many of these sacrifices you hear about happen after the initial success, do you think?Sure, that's fair
Problem is those players made sacrifices for success, and that starts with belief that you are where you need to be to achieve that success
Very trueSure, that's fair

Hmm. Lingering. Don't like change. Want to stay where they are.Uh oh.. body language experts? Lever and and mcGovern were last and second last when running out, gone??
That would go with Jakes smugness.I don't like bt's obsession with lever, always seems so smug as if he knows something about him leaving
Really unsure how professional it is for a player agent to book a month long holiday right after the CBA is announced!?So if John Ralph is correct this isn't getting sorted any time soon. Levers manager overseas for 4 weeks or so!! Awesome, just awesome.. this is like a yoyo.
McGovern saying is also 50/50, he thought both would be staying but said both will be later on season of they do...
Speculation will just continue!
Or the deal is done and he doesn't need to be here.Really unsure how professional it is for a player agent to book a month long holiday right after the CBA is announced!?
