Bank picks for the draft in a shit draft yearz vs a top 10 midfielder in the league right now who is only 22... hmmn i wonder who i'd prefer
Kelly might be a top 10 mid but realistically we would have to fork out multiple picks to secure him, it isn't unreasonable to think that we may be better suited to stock up on picks to continue our rebuild especially given our recent luck/skill in identifying talent.

Stop getting so defensive over people disagreeing with players like Atkins, Wigg & Pittard. Wigg is yet to play a game so i dont know how you can say best 22? With Marchbank, Plowman, Doc, Byrne, Williamson, Jones, Weitering, ASOS all to fit into a backline i wouldnt be lining up to pay Pittard 500-700 which is being talked about. Atkins is a giant downhill skier, go look at the Adelaide board to see their opinions of him, not great.. Even if Simmo doesn't go on next year (I think he will), I think we are pretty well covered and may just be able to draft one and wait for them to come through. No point spending picks on plebs like Savage and having to upgrade them in 2 years. We have more serious holes to fill in the team first

Firstly, I am not defensive at all. What actually surprises me, is after replying to a post on who could replace Simpson(if he retired), people take umbrage to 1 or 2 players from a list of 6.

Atkins
Pittard
Savage
Wigg
Duryea
Webb

If none of these FA/uncontracted (no picks required per se) players interest you or anyone else, I have no issue with that. But rather than simply discarding, you could throw up a few names yourself, so we can critic your thoughts. I am sure I have made it very clear, now and in the past that I would rather nurture from within.

What really perplexes me, is people suggesting that the above guys are of a lesser quality to a guy like Byrne, who features heavily in people's best 22

I welcome differing opinions, but to state "No" or "Are you joking" is really amusing ;)

Pundits say the next draft is shallow.
The following year is good.
Get Kelly in Blue.
Him and Crippa in the guts=17.
Trade everything,SOS make it happen!
I want us to go more for a Hopper and maybe another couple of fringe midfielders at other clubs(If there is any)and keep hiting the draft hard (Shit year or not). My reasoning for this is I rate Bolton to turn fringe into good players and we keep the list on relatively the same money. In 2019 we bring in the guns with a massive war chest and THREEPEAT.

Well id say Byrne is better than Wigg, Savage, Webb and maybe even Duryea. Duryea is 26 you would think he has pretty much peaked or could only improve slightly. Atkins and Pittard would be best 22 but the difference to our side from going out and getting a 600k mid compared to a 600k Pittard or Atkins would be vastly different. I think Sheehan and Buckley go this year so hopefully SOS can find another couple of gems later in the draft we can let develop through the NBs. I do think we are slowly seeing that Doc may be too good of a footballer to leave on the HBF though so maybe Willo stays there for the near future

Da man
Our man
Finally:)

I also had serious doubts about the big Log at the start.

But the whole club has improved so much since he came on board.

I credit him with much of the turnaround, either directly or indirectly by hiring the right people.

Bravo Signore LeZhooDeShay!

I agree with you on Doc. That being the case, your suggesting Byrne & Willo will be our future flankers, which is more than reasonable

They are a bitter and twisted lot the dees supporters..........too long between premiership drinks I imagine.......
I'd kill for a premiership drink. Was 14 in '95, last sober GF. At least I have vivid memories of the game.

But oh to raise a glass in toast to 17. What a glorious day that will be.

*drink responsibly

My two cents - weekends are match times. Players aren't usually having meetings. They're prepping or recovering. Fairly sure Sos was in the rooms after our game on the weekend too. Unless I saw wrong on the tv. Would've thought he'd do his travelling during the week. Happy to be wrong.

Didn't see him where he normally hangs at the vfl on saturday

Best part is he is rarely in the media, and more rarely still commenting on other clubs or things we have no control over.

Sort of an anti-McChins.

Although I'm more inclined to believe in you because I trust your opinion,I believe SOS and JK have a plan.
We lost a JK to get Judd,no flag,we get a JK we get 17.
I'm not superstitious, but I'm rarely off tangent or wrrr rrrr ong

Yes, I really like Kelly and if SOS gets him then I will be happy. My preference though would be Hopper at a much cheaper price and keep our first pick (hopefully the best mid in the draft) and continue to build. A free agent next year followed by Shiel as a fa the following year, Shiel would look mighty fine in navy blue.

So as players, you would have Byrne and Sheehan as better players than Pittard?

Too early to tell; I'd like to see the Irish lads have a good run of say 10 consecutive senior games before I make a call. That said, Pittard has been in the system seven years with one standout season (2016) to show for it. Either side of that he's given Port supporters heartburn. I've seen most of his games at Adelaide Oval from a good vantage point. As a dispassionate observer, I concur with Power supporters summation of his limitations - poor disposal and decision making. He was dropped earlier this year and has been serviceable, at best, since.

This makes me sad. Why, WHY would you say this?

Reactions.. we were in the box seat to land Fyfe right?

Massive war chest. From what I've heard it will be used in the following years though.
