Hipwood will have a fantastic highlights reel, but right now he averages 8 disposals and less then 3 marks per game.Hipwood and Curnow are seeming to prove themselves this season, whereas Moore is still struggling to develop as key position player
How do you impact games when the ball doesn't come into your zone? Maybe he should go down back but then he wouldn't be a forward anymore would he? If you look at the forward entry stats for Collingwood/Carlton/Brisbane, who would have the lowest stat? HOWEVER, when the ball comes into the forward 50, who has the better stat regarding scores?Hipwood will have a fantastic highlights reel, but right now he averages 8 disposals and less then 3 marks per game.
He has a mile to go to regularly impact games. He has a great quarter and you don't see him for the other three.
Moore averages more disposals, double the marks, and has kicked 22 goals to Hipwood's 28.
I fail to see how Hipwood is "proving himself" over and above Moore at this stage.

Sorry, didn't realise Hogan was the 4th player in this poll. Taking that into account, when Hogan is fit and playing, I would rate him as the better player out of the 4 at this stage of their careers.Ask Hogan.
In 2015 when he kicked 44 goals in his first season Melbourne averaged 44.5 inside 50's and he averaged 13.1 disposals and 6.7 marks..
Brisbane presently average 46.2.
I was showing you that it's possible for a young key forward to do better than Hipwood is notwithstanding the low inside 50's.Sorry, didn't realise Hogan was the 4th player in this poll. Welcome to the clubI voted for the player on my team.
The Poll is: Moore V Hipwood V Curnow.I was showing you that it's possible for a young key forward to do better than Hipwood is notwithstanding the low inside 50's.
Also note the post I was replying to, which stated Moore was behind Hipwood's with regards to output. i showed he isn't. Then you chimed in with your excuses.

I am sure there are players in the competition who have played a few years more than these 3 that you can say showed better form at the same stage. Hogan being one of them but that is not what we are discussing I thought.

Interesting stat on League Teams tonight. The Poll is: Moore V Hipwood V Curnow.

I'd guess part of that is that he has played the most. Our other forwards have alternated all year with each playing only a handful of games. Schache, Close, Walker, Smith, Hammelman and Skinner all in and out while Hipwood has been the main target almost the whole yearInteresting stat on League Teams tonight.
Brisbane have gone to Hipwood 144 times this season, which is 88 more than any other player.
It shows what the Lions players think of him (good), the lack of alternatives, plus the opportunities he has actually been getting.
Hipwood is still very raw imo, but you can see the potential with the athleticism.Curnow is clearly more physically developed (fitness wise and strength wise). I think that suggests Hipwood has the greater scope for improvement.
I am a bit more conservative with Hipwood though. I worry he is getting built up too much. He has the tools to be one of the best forwards in the comp, but he still has a lot of development required to get there; which isn't guaranteed to happen.
He recently had an interview on fox where he was compared to buddy and he responded saying he is wanting to take bits out of all the best key fowards (not just buddy) and that he wants to be Eric Hipwood out there, not someone else. I thought that was a great attitude.

He still needs to fill out a lot before he can really dominate, but he has things you just can't teach.
I still feel like he should be further along right now, if he's going to reach the heights expected of him.
People compare him to Lance Franklin, but by the same age (20), we'd already seen Buddy put up a 70+ goal season and win an Elimination Final off his own boot (2007). He then went on to kick a ton the next year and win a flag. You can say "Oh well he had a better team around him", but he was a large part of what made the Hawks a better team.
I'm not convinced that Hipwood is on the verge of such a sudden uptick in output. At the moment, he really does very little out on the ground aside from 1-2 goals and the occasional highlight.
Buddy is not a fair comparison of normal key position development.
