From my side the nutty gossip comes straight from people or a person who should know. So gossip it may be, but it is club level gossip.
Have heard that Jake would love to stay and that money is a secondary factor in his decision compared with the wants and needs of his loved ones.

Petsonally dont see how being percieved to be pussy whipped is any worse than being percieved to be a Cash Whore with no sense of loyalty or regard for team success.

Id rather make decisions for love than money and **** what people want to label me

Firstly how would Geelong afford Lever's salary? Secondly, how would they get the picks needed to appease the Crows? I'm pretty sure they can't trade away their first round pick this year or next year.

McClure now says Lever likely to stay? Haha. Bloke is all over the place.

Haha that's crazy! The man is an idiot!

But having said that I think Lever is Goooooooooooooooooooooone!
As Scoopie says the opposite.

Don't get it though, the guy who is called SCOOP McClure says one week he is going, the next week he is staying. So is he just saying every possible outcome to prove he is right afterwards. See I told you so? They don't call me the Scoop for nothing!

Yep, my take on it based on recent comments from people like Lever and Roo are that Lever wants to stay at Adelaide but, at the moment, Adelaide's offer is too low for him to sign.

So, if Adelaide improve their offer he could stay. If they don't he's likely to go.

Adelaide are likely weighing up whether it's worth paying Lever the money to stay, and what it will cost them in terms of mid-tier players being pushed out, or leaving them without enough cap space to recruit another A-grade midfielder.
Yeah pretty much. List management is going to bleed either way.

And leaves them replacing 3 decent players (well, Motlop is decent if he actually performs, he can be terrible) with Lever and 2 rookies. They'd be shifting even further into the guns and rookies territory.

It also doesn't answer the question of how they're going to get the picks required to satisfy a trade. The Crows would be very unlikely to strengthen Geelong's list again without decent compensation in return.

Edit: Geelong don't have a 2017 first round pick (Richmond has theirs) and they need at least 2 first round picks by 2018.

So I'd love to know how they're going to get both a first round pick either this year or next year to meet the AFL's requirements and at least another first round pick (possibly 2) to give to the Crows for Lever.

Media people (I was going to say journalists, but I'd be using the term very loosely! :D) need to fill column space every day and create headlines to sell papers. So even if they don't have any new info, they still need something to take up that space in the paper.
It's happened for years. I used to work with the journo's at Parliament House (when I was in Defence PR). Frank Cranston - who was a well known political/defence reporter would call every now and then when they had "space" to fill. He'd say "Got any scoops for me today?" And of course, I'd say no. Next day, sure as eggs, there'd be a column or two dedicated to a completely fabricated story with "Departmental sources". Used to shit me to tears.

Did anyone hear McClure on the radio. Said his story was about Lever meeting with players, then went on to say that Adelaide had upped it's offer and that Adelaide and Lever see him as a future captain of the club but the offer from Victoria are still significantly better.

How much more can you hedge your bets when reporting?
Bottom feeding little gimp.

Summary of media in last month:
Lever could either stay or go. Take it to the bank.
There is a third option.

He may retire as an AFL footballer and follow his real dream of being a Papier Mache artist.
