How could it play out Soapy ?
2018 2nd rounder plus hopefully band 3 FA compo (Casboult) for Hopper and Kennedy ?
Boekhorst for Balic ?
4th rounder for Miles ?
Take our 1st rounder to the draft this year for best available mid ?
Adds a bit more to our midfield going forward and leaves the financial ability to land any big fish Silvagni might have brewing ...
Was all on board the Balic>Boek trade train earlier, but if Boeky can have another good game, repeating his R22 effort than I think 2018 could be his breakout year and pay us back for the draft reach.

Otherwise, surely we'd need something coming out way with Balic rather than a straight swap.

From a list perspective, I feel that Hopper AND Kennedy would be far better than Kelly alone. I wonder if pick 4 by itself would get it done? GWS would surely want more.

Nah, I'd be expecting Hopper/Kennedy and something else for pick 4

Than can have pick 4 for Kelly

Whoever the person is at the club that helped heal the rift with SOS & get him back to the club deserves a lot of credit. It has been a masterstroke for both his actual nous & the relationship he has with GWS & their players.

Other supporters love to bag us as the GWS seconds or whatever & this will only get worse as we climb the ladder but I find that amusing. The way the AFL built the GWS list, it was always going to happen that a few years down the track, they couldn't fit all their stars in one team & some players would start to look around. I'm delighted that we are probably best placed to secure the top of the talent & players that suit our needs.

Based on the work SOS has done so far, this is probably the first draft period in many years where I am not concerned at all about what we will end up with. I'm very confident when the dust settles, we'll be happy with where we stand, Kelly or no Kelly. (Although personally I would love to have him)
I'd say more of a father's love for his children..... how could you allow your 3 boys to go the rabble that we were.

These are the same people (and clubs) who bitch and moan about handouts given (rightly or wrongly) to GWS. Instead of complaining, we have worked the system and strategically geared ourselves up, not only to grab the surplus talent to replenish our depth quickly, but more importantly, positioned ourselves to have a crack at the top / upper-echelon talent.

Or are Pie supporters (Treloar, Adams, Hoskin Elliot), Tigers (Townsend), Saints (Bruce, Steele), NM (Ahern), Dogs (Boyd), * (Stewart), Hawks (O'Rourke).

And these are only the ones I can recall straight off - I'm sure there are others.

Haven't seen much at all of Balic but if we can redeem anything of value for Boekhorst i wouldn't hesitate .

Feel the same way. Would do 2018 third rounder for Balic and give Boeky a one year extension. In 12 months time, if Balic overtakes Boekhorst, we trade Boekhorst to Freo for a third rounder (ours or theirs).

Basically just buys us 12 months with both on our list to make a better call.

Blaine is looking handy now that we're playing an open game, could definitely be in our interests to keep him.

Don't want Hopper unless a third rounder. Hasn't shown much with two years in the system.

Neither had Cripps after two years...

Silly observation to make. Young mid taken in the top 10 doesn't drop to third rounder value because he hasn't broken into the form side of the comp (primarily due to multiple minor injuries).

Late first or early second is good value for whoever gets him.

Why would he leave Richmond to be a depth player somewhere else?

He either stays, or goes to a club who will play him.

Would you say to him be a depth player? Who knows if he will. If rumours are true SOS rates him and thinks we need another contested ball player to help Cripps. The more good players we have the more the depth the better the competition for spots. Sounds all positive to me

Not much quality? fair to say we disagree

BB Balic is at Freo ... wtf has Richmond got to do with anything?@!?!?!

Edit: My bad you were referring to Miles I take it lol .....

The bloody saints have done well out of them

I'd prefer to take a chance on a developing ruckman then a player who will at best only get a came if we have three injuries to inside mids. Just put graham on the rookie list if we need depth

We can take a ruckman anyway. Graham isn't up to it. Good depth needs to have better players. SOS will keep turning over players until he gets it whether it's Miles or anyone else

You must be talking about Jamie because Patty Cripps was averaging 23 odd disposals in his 2nd year, his first year stalled due to a broken leg. In his 2nd year we realised we had someone special. Patty is a poor example, because when fit, I consider him to be elite.
