For those attacking BB's rumour as being too good to be true, the first word they said was 'proposal'. Obviously it requires a handful of pieces to fall into place and isn't a done deal, but it does sound logical provided those players want to come.
Bolton and the banked cap space are probably the main advantages that we have over other teams.

Exactly. The club may want it and discussions are preliminary but it has multiple parts that may break down.

Great result for us but my first thoughts are that point 2 is more or less draft tampering and would make a mockery out of the system, I just can't see the afl letting us get away with it and don't think I feel comfortable about it either

SOS is happy to test the AFL's boundaries when it comes to theses types of deals. IIRC he tried to do some round about deals so GWS acquired the first pick in the Mini Draft before the AFL knocked it back.

And what of Adelaide - whom are central to the whole thing working - do you think they want to do us any favors?
They don't want to lose Lever, and even if they reluctantly accept Pick 10, they have to give it up for a 29yo (next year) Gibbs, whom they may not even need if they win a flag?
Adelaide will get more than pick 10 for Lever, possibly an extra first rounder.

I won't give up the source but it is a senior person within the club and I trust them. The individual trades have been discussed with the clubs involved and are being worked on. Is it a sure thing - absolutely not. Too many moving pieces. But this is "plan A" so to speak.

When you don't just dismiss it out of hand (or because it is too much for you to read and digest) and go into the detail - each trade works for each club involved at each level. This is a careful strategy that the club has put together. This is seen as the culmination in what SOS has been working on for the past 2 years.

Crows will get more than pick 10 for Lever. If the Dees it will be pick 10 plus another mid and likely Trengove from the Dees (though he is worth zero but will go to either Crows or the Suns).

Feel free to dismiss it. But as many have pointed out the logic is sound (and no I didn't make it up - not that clever)

Trengove got delisted so wont be in any trades.
I hope your source didn't tell you that he would be involved in a deal.

If so it doesn't bode well for the rest of your rumour.

Lever is worth 2 first round picks. If you were Adelaide, would you do the deal to win 1 or multiple flags, while they have the players they do? I know I would

For those who have complained about pages of rubbish with no rumours, true or not this is a doozy. Dine out at this buffet for the next month!
Month....pfft.
I want another one tomorrow.

Seems we can still use next year's 1st rounder and keep Gibbs.

Cripps, Kelly, Gibbs, Murphy, Rockliff as our starting midfield. SPS, Kennedy, Ed and Charlie in the next rotation. Weitering back in defence full time. Schache, McKay and Levi getting supply from that midfield. Where would that 2018 pick end up? We will be pushing hard for finals IMO.

Two things I forgot to add.

Murphy will step down as captain to focus on his game and Docherty will be captain with Cripps as VC. Won't be announced until the new year but Murphy suggested it in his exit interview.

If we had pick 1 SOS would take Fogarty. Believes he will be the clear standout. Rayner is not rated in our top 5

Trengove was delisted today and career is all but done: http://www.afl.com.au/news/2017-09-12/demons-cut-exskipper-and-three-more

Captaincy makes sense. Wow on Rayner. Seems Fogarty can be got with 7 or 8 though. If all else fails we could deal with the Saints.

I thought I heard Trengove retired or was delisted tonight

Completely separate. Trengove is in the same friendship circle - speaking to both SA clubs for 4 months and GC asked the question two weeks ago

I'd rather have Fogarty than Schache and I think we could get the former at pick three. The squib out doesn't impress me one bit.

This was always going to happen - it's Mitchell / Hodge all over again. Hopefully Murph goes as well as Mitchell Post-Captaincy
