Our midfield doesn't have many kids to protect. Murphy, Ed, Cripps, Kreuzer, Gibbs(if he stays) are all strong bodied and apart from Cripps, mostly older players.

If anything, he'd be a bad influence to them.

I'd rather have Fogarty than Schache and I think we could get the former at pick three. The squib out doesn't impress me one bit.

Not sure about Fogarty but I would go to the draft over Schache, especially for any pick inside Top 20. Just don't think we need another player of his type. Priority has to be elite mids

Some non Carlton related rumours (again take with a grain of salt):

1. Saints have offered pick 8 for Patton from GWS. To be discussed between the clubs. Likely require pick 30-40 back

2. North will get Balic (sadly I rate him)

3. GWS interested in Ports Trengove as a free agent but need cap relief.

4. 4 clubs have asked about Liam Jones and we said get lost

5. Essendon believe they can get a flag in the next two years with 3 quality mids. Finding them is the issue

6. Stringer to the Bombers if they don’t get Kelly will be done day 1

My take:

Saints need elite mids not forwards.

We are front runners for Balic

Trengrove going to WB's

Really? 4 clubs

There is no way we're going to forsake the draft this year to that extent.

For all the talk and rumours our priority will still be the draft

I think it will be similar to last year. Pick up some good players like Kennedy Smith Balic & Lang cheap and then go to the draft for another 6-10 players.

If SOS can pull off similar to what he did last year I will be very happy.

They don't want to lose Lever, and even if they reluctantly accept Pick 10, they have to give it up for a 29yo (next year) Gibbs, whom they may not even need if they win a flag?

If Adelaide only get pick 10 for Lever then they've been reamed, he's easily worth Pick 10 and say pick 14 for arguments sake.

Would argue the saints are desperate for a key forward. Bruce got dropped this year and Mccartin is a long way off. I could definitely see them identifying that as their biggest need. Theyll back the likes of billings Ross Gresham and newnes to take another step forward.

I think some people are concerned about others coming onto the board and flatly making stuff up.......and that's fair enough.
I don't think it matters so much, as they'll get found out soon enough and sometimes quicker than they may think and if those posters really need 15 minutes of 'fame', they may likely be very sorry souls. Be gentle on them.

Some of the elements in that rumour though are pretty close to the mark and take into account some things that are worthy of raising.
Maybe blind luck, or simply a frustrated wannabe List Manager.

My thoughts on Betty_blue76, is that they are plausible rumours, that may happen. But I think Bettyblue is just Earlspearls new account this year.

Easy way to verify this - watch the club staff list and see which senior figure gets the sack.

I can buy someone getting tidbits like "We're into player X" or "Player Y is leaving", but anyone at the club who shared our entire list strategy before week 2 of finals is going to be marched straight out the door. Boot studder or SOS himself, makes no difference - this would be confidential information at the highest level and the board would have no choice but to terminate and probably sue anyone who leaked it.

Good reading, plausible scenarios, but 100% not coming from the club.

Don't mind convoluted trade scenarios being floated, I do it myself all the time. The narrative here though is on another level.

IMO, i think we were just banking in some brownie points but secretly the pick we gave up would of netted one of the same players we picked with the later draft picks.
