We need to use more than two picks in the draft. Are you saying our team is so good that we only need to improve on two players? We already have three retirements and two delistings and the club has not finished yet.

Without looking into recent list changes, I suspect there hasn't been many more than say 5-7. I'm expecting similar this year considering who's retired, who seems to be on the chopping block, contract status' & potential trades.

Take into consideration the list demographic & the fact we are one of the youngest list going around & you'll understand a lot of improvement will come from players already on our list.

All in all, I'm expecting a fairly quiet off season where we look at only elite talent coming through the door whether that be utilising premium draft picks to gain the best kids from the land or through the trade period. Including Marshall, I suspect we take 3-4 from the draft & a further 1-2 from trades.

LDU still being discussed in the no1 frame, seems impossibly he'll last until 7.
Apparently had a huge game on the weekend in the first final, with 33 possies (21 contested) and a goal and looking Dangerfield-like, bursting out of the packs with speed and helping his team come back from a 50 point deficit to beat Eastwrn. A return to top form just at the right time.

With so many of the other top 10 prospects finished for either the year, or till the All-Stars game, he could really put his case to go no.1 forward strongly again if he keeps that up in the finals.

As I said in the other thread, there's a fair bit of talk on the D&T board that Norf are strongly into Stephenson, given that they have Cunnington, Ziebell, Higgins and others in the middle, but lack run and carry.

Makes a fair bit of sense and with his strong end to the year it's not unreasonable at all for him to go top 5.

If he does, that could very easily push Cerra back to pick 7.

Know for a fact Freo have flown over to chat to Oscar Clavarino and family. I know it doesnt mean much but you could read into it thinking they will go small with their first, or maybe they are thinking they might move their first on all together..

I'd say he'd be depth until he develops & by that time Brown will be gone.

If you look at our list our glaring needs are outside mids & tall defenders. We are pretty set for everything else although we obviously need to include quality on all lines.

And if you look how the game is going you don't need many tall forwards or backs. Don't use good picks on tall backs unless you have everything else covered. We dont

I've heard that whoever is going to be Picked by Norff are going to knock them back because they want to stay where they are for another year . Lol

I wonder who we will get , hope we get someone ready to play . We always seem to pick guys who are long term project players with a couple of exceptions of course . Who ever we get let's hope they have more luck on the injury front than Goddard and Paddy have had . On the plus side it will be like we already have three new players for next year with Paddy , Goddard and Freezer all hopefully ready to play together for the first time .
It reminds me that when Kosi was ready Roo was injured and when Roo was finally ready Kosi was injured . But they got there in the end . Hope the same for Paddy and Goddard.

We also will have Rice and NOK ready and waiting for a game . Hopefully White will already be playing . Could be an exciting time next year with so many new players ready to go . Players will have to fight hard for their spots . Just the forward line alone will have Paddy , Membrey, Bruce, Battle ,Marshall, Billings, Lonie and who knows who else lol.

Then there's all the mids with Armo coming back plus all of the ones we had last year and if we manage to get jelly belly which I doubt .

If we downgrade 1 of our 1sts can we snag Clark and Coffield? Ive seen theres been a lot of talk about these 2 but not in the top end discussions and possibly after our picks?
What do we think their draft range might be?
Also makes me think there could be value in the teens?
I think we're better off keeping picks 7 & 8, but trading into another pick around the 17-22 range somehow

Would carlton take rayner? As it currently stands if they don't take him and North has been linked to Stephenson it could push him back to 7 if freo and Collingwood are set on talls. I doubt it more likely cerra but still a possibility.

If with pick 7 , we land one of the hyped midfielder types , it wouldn't be a bad idea to use Live Trading and immediately approach Gold Coast (who have 19 , 22 , 24 and 34 in the 2nd round) and GWS (who have 23 and 25 in the 2nd round) about a trade for our pick 8. If we cannot pass up who is still available at pick 8 , no probs , we also have the option of trading future picks during the draft , so if a Gresham type situation occurs (where a player high up our draft board is still available during say the mid 2nd round , we can then perhaps offer up our 2018 2nd Rounder for him or we might not even need to that as we could still get pick 23 or 25 off GWS for Jack Lonie , even if it involves a latter pick shuffle) Point being there could be some prime talent available in the 20's like talls - Claravino , Sam Taylor , and outside speedsters like Zac Bailey and O'Brien , not to mention mature talent like Ryan.

Just watched the Falcons & Stingrays game (live stream).

Cassidy Parish is this years Matt Crouch & Clayton Oliver. He just racks them up & took the game away from the Rays in the 3rd term. Absolute contested PIG.

Parish definitely isn't a clean player with excellent speed. He's just a pure footballer. He'll likely go around pick 20-40 & make a complete fools of recruiters once he steps in the AFL.

Is he the type we need? No. But he could be a massive upgrade on our current inside mids.

If we don't need hi type then we would be crazy to take that type.

Is Geelong's 20 gettable if we help them get Ablett?

Hunter Clark draft range?

10-20

According to Brett Anderson's, since moving from the half backline to the midfield he has been the 'form' midfielder at Tac level. Again, not seen as the type we need but looks to be pretty much a bullet proof selection being a genuine ball winner.
