Hey, A-League, bring on the Port Adelaide SC now! There is a soccer "Showdown" waiting to be explored. There could even be some Chinese investment on the new club. Go for it, A-League!

No need to create a "Port Adelaide SC" out of thin air because I reckon Port people would get behind Adelaide City. They're a real club that's been around for decades and they used to represent SA in the previous national league before soccer in this country went all Big Bash franchise everyone pick a colour!

And as fate would have it they wear black and white stripes. The traditional club vs the soulless franchise, this sounds familiar...

Spot on he is also a North Adelaide supporter , Cows supporter and a lawyer
Enough said.
Why I refuse to support Adelaide United.

They are too Crow like.

You know Adelaide United actually played in the NSL, don't you? When Adelaide City said it was all too hard and pulled out? I'm no fan of Griffin and the way he's turned what was meant to be 'The People's Team' of Adelaide United when Bianco was involved into some cash grab (and he acts like a campaigner to boot), but I sure as shit aint a fan of how City decided to leave South Australia without a presence in the national league.

Let me put it to you another way:

**** Greg Griffin. And **** Adelaide City.

They ran out of money so they couldn't compete, even after they tried rebranding themselves as the Force to broaden their appeal. They did what they could but it was to no avail. It's nothing to take personally.

Besides it was highly unlikely that they would've survived to see the A-league anyway had they been able to hang on, just like the rest of their traditional contemporaries.

Even better! But the world does not need another City-United rivalry...

They rebranded themselves as the Force because it was a directive from Soccer Australia to try and replicate what Perth Glory were doing. But in typical fashion, they thought they knew better and continued to 'appeal' to the Italian community. They were always Juventus.

It's all right here:

They did what they could, huh?

Also this:

The club was formed by an expatriate group of Italian migrants and took the name of the most glorious Italian Football Club, Juventus. The clubs’ initial attempt to don the famous black and white stripes of Juventus were thwarted when the local Football Federation ruled that there could only be one black and white team per league and the black and white of Port Adelaide took precedence. So it was that the newly formed Juventus wore a navy blue strip with a white “J” before finally being permitted to wear black and white stripes from 1949.

These campaigners sabotaged a Port Adelaide side in the league and stole their colours.

I'll say it again: **** City.

Can someone let this Giffen fellow know the tens of millions of dollars us tax payers have payed, just so the Socceroos can try and make up the numbers in the World Cup.

Oh he knows, just like FIFA knows. Just like the much more amateur crew at FFA know.

Look at this below from the Terrorgraph, and yes it also belongs in the stadium thread, and the 'general AFL talk' thread too.

While we're trying to grow the game in China, the battle is on for the redevelopment of ANZ Stadium in Sydney into a square-only configuration of 75k seats.

Ostensibly this is about the politics of the NSW State Government supporting NRL-friendly voters across several clubs, but soccer is the sport that benefits most in the long term, just riding in on the coat tails. Not surprisingly the AFL has weighed in at a late hour asking for the ANZ reconfiguration to be shelved, out of a total $1.6 Bn package across several stadium upgrades, in favor of additional projects that benefit several aspects of our game.

Anyone who thinks GWS and GC aren't about competing with soccer for the long term needs to get this.

A campaigner like Griffin, who takes an active and central role in damaging the fabric of footy in one state for two decades then jumps to soccer to enrich himself and his mates needs to be called out for being the wrecker and arch enemy of the game that he is. And of course Elbows and Stupid being what they are just re-tweet the a**hole's latest low level sabotage effort.

If anything rustles Janus' jimmies it's inherently a good thing, let's face it.

Insofar cricket is fine in Australia, Aussie football will be fine as well — and vice-versa. Cricket is Footy's greatest ally, even if some don't want to accept it.

Soccer, on the other hand, establishing itself as a Summer sport, it becomes ally of League (and Union) in this absolutely fantastic Football Civil War of yours.

Your Honour I present Exhibit A: Italian guy singing a jingle! Perhaps they were walking a fine line between appeasing their traditional base and finding new fans. Sound familiar?

Also team in league has a cry when team joining league wants to wear the same colours. Now that definitely sounds familiar!

I guess we should stop trying to wear the Prison Bars because we're clearly just out to sabotage Collingwood.

I'm not gonna waste any more time on it. Go read the Crawford Report and you'll see why it had to happen the way it did.

Adelaide United and the Crows have one thing in common. Neither team can hold onto its players.

A fun fact. More players from the United team that won the championship in 2016 are now playing for Melbourne City than the current team.

I haven't argued otherwise and it's pointless to consider anyway. Adelaide barely supports the Summer Crows enough as it is so there's almost zero chance of a 2nd team joining them.

Sometimes, although one seems too many, two can be great...

By one, you mean despite the colors, both being league franchises, and the fact that "Adelaide United" is exactly what the Crows were meant to be, right?

All of the entities in the A-League are franchises. It’s the MLS model.
