Travis Cloke has retired.
With Stringer, Cloke and Crameri retired or delisted the bulldogs onky have five olayers on their list that have kicked 20 or more goals in a season:
-Tory Dickson - 4x - 50, 40, 23 & 22 goals
-Luke Dahlhaus - 1x - 28 goals
-Liam Picken - 1x - 24 goals
-Bontempelli - 1x - 20 goals
-Jack Redpath - 1x - 20 goals

Could be in a spot of bother next year unless Boyd & Schache come on in leaps and bounds.

Just as a topic for discussion, would you have preferred to land Troy Menzel or Charlie Dixon and why?
Considering what Dixon and Menzel cost, Menzel by FAR
Let's be honest for a moment. Say we didn't trade out first round picks for Ryder and then Dixon, eating huge chunks out of our salary cap in the process. Say instead we played Lobbe and Butcher respectively in their positions. Would our net average return over the past two seasons be better, worse or about the same?

Our list management is a disaster and it's only a matter of when not if we will pay for it down the track.

Compare that to Port:
- Westhoff - 9x - Max 34
- R Gray - 6x - Max 47
- Motlop - 5x - Max 44
- Wingard - 5x - Max 53
- Dixon - 4x - Max 49
- Watts - 4x - Max 38
- Ryder - 3x - Max 27
- S Gray - 1x - Max 26
- Boak - 1x - Max 20
- White - 1x - Max 25

* If the rumours are true...
- Thomas - 9x - Max 53

Menzel will finish his career as a Crows player, Dixon, if he somehow got to Crows, would leave like the rest of them, what a money hungry pig. Menzel is a bonafide star. Can somebody tell me if he is indigenous, so I know if we call him the next Andrew Mcleod or the next Mark Riccuito?

Funny one old Cloke.

Was both a gun CHF capable of tearing a game apart, and a complete lump of coal, sometimes at the same time. Had three years at the top from 2011 - 2013.

I'm impressed with how articulate and mature he seems now. Was a few years ago, but I remember a couple of interviews when he was first coming into stardom when he sounded as though there was very little between the ears. Been plenty of ups and downs but good to see he's come out of footy well and is in a position to make a success of the remainder of his life too.

Rory Sloane - 1x - Max 20
Andy Otten - 1x - Max 20

And Essendon:

Michael hurley - 3x - Max 27
Cale Hooker - 2x - Max 41
Orazio Fantasia - 2x - Max 39

Yeah? ..... Nah!

Those two were worth more than the sum of their payments IMO. Can you imagine what would have happened to this Bigfooty board, Port membership, and game attendances with Lobbe & Butcher playing? Serious? We would have ended up resembling North Melbourne!

Port Adelaide and Bigfooty would have imploded, the internet would have broken, and the planets would have moved out of alignment!

Ryder & Dixon were the saving grace of Port's terrible, unfulfilled, 2017.

for what he cost the club Charlie's first half of this season was maybe a pass, but his 2nd half was, at best average!

The pressure is absolutely, definitely, on him to perform next season, and if the hierarchy haven't got the call right, the references to 2008 - 11 could unfortunately be not too far off the mark.

No doubt all will be revealed in the fullness of time.

He was a star at his best. Contested marking beast. Then Collingwood told him to loose weight so he could play a lead up role. Not surprised that after Collingwood changed his game both the team and Cloke turned to shit. Shame.

Charlie Dixon came second in the Club's 2017 BnF... was only 7 votes off winning it...and yet here we have old mate Powerneedshelp 08
Surely he is writing that in sarcastica font?

Here are the ancient, out of context posts that Powerade 08 is quoting-without-quoting for reasons likely apparent only to him.

Not taking the elimination final into account he only kicked 2 goals less in the second half of the season. And he was much more accurate, 24-16 in the first 11 rounds and 22-8 in the last 11. He had more marks, handballs, kicks and inside 50s in the second half of the season. At his price the pressure will always be on him to perform and with our ins I can see a much better return than 49 goals in 2018.

Funny enough I never rated his ability to take contested marks on the wing in the Malthouse heyday, but his forward work at his peak was very good and his 2013 should've been one of the great modern KPF seasons but his accuracy got in the way.

Why are we still arguing over Charlie? And why are people not cluey enough to realise that these quotes are being ripped from an old thread?
