Lycett is underrated, he is a very good player but injuries would have brought that career high average down.

80-85 is what i think he will get, but 85-90 is not out of the question. He just doesnt fit in because of team balance
IF he can do that, he's a realistic option, until we see who emerges from the pack ......i really need to find some $$$ to upgrade a FWD Rookie at F4 :(

85+ was in response to TBAs comment. I said I'd be happy with 75+...
Basically any "warm body" ruckman can score 60+ if we know they'll play a stretch of games ......

thats what people said about Witts last year, but Witts didnt have any competition for the spot, Lycett does
Reckon even if NN comes into the side, Lycett may be the lead ruckman, with NN up forward ....and being eased into the games

What about Vardy? Had a very admirable year last year for WCE. Do they just throw him to the scrap heap? It's not Simon Madden returning from a long-term injury, it's Scott Lycett

Reckon it's BS from West Coast of NN playing. Same as when they said he's a chance to play finals last year. In a couple of photos I've seen he looks so big you'd think he'd struggle to jump off the ground. My take on him is round six at the earliest.

not going to move this until after JLT and i can get more stats.

McDonald, Z Smith and Gunners the only 3 I'm tossing between.

All rookies are placeholders so far

I'm tempted by the Gun show as well, keen to see where he plays in JLT. Absolute class and bloody smart footballer

All these teams with a first year rookie at D5 and 2 first year rookies at F5 and F6 so they can bat 6 deep in their midfield are going go be in for a nasty shock come round 1 I reckon.

So far I just don't think it's feasible!

Okay. Rookies are obviously subject to change. The big thing for me will be burning someone to pick up a second ruck if Lycett doesn't play Rd1 or if NicNat does. I still think he'll make cash but it won't be anywhere near as good if he's not #1.View attachment 464480

So you think there's going to be 2 breakout midfielder for GWS to go along with Kelly, Whitfield & Ward?

Fwd line looks diabolical. Smith looks pretty safe but Barlow & Walters might struggle to reach that top 8 fwds.

hard to tell with very limited preseason time/games plus AFLX only showed us that melkshum should be our number one pick.
its the same predicament every year though. go hard on mids and start with 2-3 premium forwards or backs or play 3/4 kids or mid prices in the mids due to that depth always being as long as your arm. either way its a win-win. im leaning towards 5 premium mids to start option because the forwards and backs this year are very thin in terms of premiums. of course by seasoned end that always works its self out.

Agreed, but until rookies show themselves most these teams are works in progress.
M6 should go to a JOM or a 200k rookie until the fwd, def rookies show something.
Are you tempted to pick the JOM?

Bundy at F5?

Have had JOM in and out of my team and also him and Cripps at M4 and M5 with Dow, Bayshaw and Broadie at M6-M8 just so I can get a better balanced back and forward line.

I hear ya with rookies always presenting themselves closer to round 1 but atm it looks very bleak for back and forward rookies. Good scoring rookies especially....

Have Bundy as my F5 atm. :thumbsu:

The thought of playing a rookie at F6 doesn't fill me with much confidence though to the point where I have been thinking of starting Bundy at F6.

Yeah, not enough practice games to go off so far, way too early and not many rookies have presented themselves yet.

Need a few more games from them to see which ones will lock themselves in for a round 1 birth.

5 premo midfield is what I would ideally like though in terms to get a good balance up back and forward. :thumbsu:

If you mean first year as in base price rookies, I disagree.

D5 we have Doedee, should average 60 at worst.
Then Finlayson who will play half back, not the most difficult role for a first year.
Naughton looks good for a bench spot or on field, the "best interceptor in the draft".

We should be fine fielding 2 of these guys.

Up forwards we potentially have Fritch, ZGL, Ryan, Garlett, Ahern, McCatin, Bonar, Starc. Replace solider with another solider if needed.

If we had solid forwards then yeah we could just run Christensen at F5, but we don't. Lots of us are turning to 400-450k forwards, which I think presents more risk than starting with a basement rookie on field.

Time will tell, Bundy at F6 is a bit extreme though.
Venebles and Ahern better show something the next round of JLT or it may be a reality.

Agree with you on Doedee but every man and his dog has already locked him in at D6.

Seen and heard a few doggies supporters state who they think their back 6 will be heading into round 1 and Naughton doesn't figure in any of their back 6's so I am skeptical on him. He does look good though.

Finlayson is a maybe. Looks good but GWS are a hard team to break into. Good if he gets a round 1 gig though.

Out of all the forward rookies you listed the only ones I would be semi confident atm starting round 1 would be Ryan and Fritsch. They both wont score that great though so would be worried starting them at F6.

My whole point with the forward rookies is that even if a few of them get a round 1 birth they will score like crap and do we really want to put up with that as our F6?

Lets see what the next few weeks bring I guess as things can change from here on end.....
