Its akin to when a cop (singular) pull you over for (allegedly) being on your phone. They will also ask you "Do you know what you have done wrong?" Most people say "yes officer - i was on my phone." If you say no its your word against theirs. They are seeking a similar admission of guilt from SPP from something he doesn't believe he has done.

Thanks to Seven's sensationalist bullshit putting everyone on the back foot, I'd say they expected to find a smoking gun (either in terms of footage and/or multiple credible corroborated witness statements), but haven't, so are relying on SPP/Port to fold.

The outcome of the player and his club actually standing up for themselves never actually crossed the league's mind.
