The saints putting their hand up for relocating
They are a strange one, they were good when the whole area was gentrifying etc. I don’t understand how they aren’t more popular. They have a cool name, decent kit, cool home zone etc.

It’s the legacy of winning only 1 flag (by 1 point) in a zillion years.

And 27 wooden spoons, more than double the second-most amount of spoons.

So I was speaking to a Hawthorn supporter who told me he was disappointed Luke Hodge continued his career at Brisbane.

He told me that Hodge “conned” Hawthorn when he supposedly retired last year and that he simply didn’t need to go play for Brisbane.

Seems bizarre to me.

From a flag/spoon POV they really are the Bizarro Port. It’s amazing that 1. they still exist and 2. they somehow have more support than a couple of their Melbourne neighbours.

I grew up watching Norf be a powerhouse. How bizarre it was to grow up and realise that no-one goes for them.

When I lived in Melbs I thought there were quite a few saints supporters, more than I anticipated anyway.

Shitty fixturing tonight.

Norf was only a powerhouse because of Bob Ansett’s money.
It was Alan Aylett Ron Josep and benefactors who started the ball rolling getting Barassi and 3 captains from other clubs after North voted against the 10 year rule then they moved like buggery to make sure they didn't miss out. Ansett didn't supply those early brown paper bags in 1973-75 years.

But once the VFL stole Aylett and made him prez, then Ansett's $$$ kicked in to make sure they won more than just the one flag and stayed at the top of the tree for a decade all up.
