It can't be true about McGovern being upset at accepting a low ball offer having been told there was no more money in the kitty. He signed on for success over money, unlike Lever.

http://www.afl.com.au/news/2018-06-12/exclusive-hawks-afl-in-trial-of-onfield-zones

WITH the look and feel of the game now the hot-button topic in the game, the AFL has enlisted its most successful coach to help chart a course for the future.

Hawthorn coach Alastair Clarkson used the bye week to stage a training session on Saturday morning and it was moved to Etihad Stadium after a request from the AFL to "try a few things".

AFL umpires officiated at Saturday morning's session and was filmed by the League for further analysis. Among those in attendance were AFL general manager of football operations Steve Hocking, head of coaching David Rath, umpires boss Grant Williams, game analyst Brett Munro and football operations manager Pat Clifton.

Rath joined the League at the start of the year as head of coaching after 13 years as a senior assistant at Hawthorn, where he worked under Alastair Clarkson as he led the Hawks to four premierships.

Rath is working closely with Hocking, looking at different ways the game might be played, with changes set to be implemented as early as next season. Any changes would need to come through the new Competition Committee and signed off by the AFL Commission.

It is believed the Hawks were always planning a major training session ahead of their round 13 clash with Adelaide and once the AFL learned of this, they contacted the Hawks to see whether they could trial some ideas.

Having the session behind closed doors at Etihad Stadium allowed the club and the AFL to conduct the trials away from the public, which would have been impossible at the club's Waverley Park base.

Those coffees really paying off aye.
Enough with the rule changes & shit. This all seemed to spiral out of control since the Pickett & Primus heck Port over rules. They’ve been tinkering with shit every year to the point where the umpires are the main attraction. Undo all the bullshit changes. Bring back the bump & the biff & ppl will start to tune in again. Oh & the umps should go back to being white maggots & just the game fukn flow. Go back to the recent Hawks game to see what I mean. I hear there’s a last touch out of bounds free & zones !! heck off Blight !!

Serious question but have the crows hierarchy ever acknowledged even slightly that there may be a problem with player retention? I know their cult following don't.

Imagine if Port had this problem would it ever not be rehashed in the media every second of everyday.

But down at the marsh

"It’s believed McGovern agreed to the Crows’ deal based on the fact the club said it had no more room in its salary cap.

The Crows then signed Bryce Gibbs from Carlton in a deal in which the Blues snared two first-round draft picks and Gibbs was handed a deal worth more per season than McGovern."

I've read enough utter shite about Port that I'm not necessarily going to take something as gospel just because it was published by a newspaper, but if that bit is true, it's pretty dodgy.
Oh, please be true!

All the draft picks in the world doesn’t fix shit like this.
Ask GWS, GCS, Carlton, Melbourne....

Would be pretty funny if we had put an offer in for Rory...

Feel for Betts no doubt he wants out or at least some heads to roll

Is he contracted for 2019? Don't think he'd go to another club at this stage of his career, but genuinely wouldn't be surprised if he retired.

McGoverns manager has denied it...what a surprise...but I do like the part where he says we've all heard that players are looking to get out of Adelaide....LOLOLOLOL!!

McGovern’s manager Colin Young told The Advertiser on Monday night: “Mitch has not indicated that. We’ve all heard in the past two weeks that players are looking to get out of Adelaide, but to put Mitch McGovern in that group is ridiculous.”

It’s so clearly true. Whether it will happen is another thing, but it’s way past the balance of probability.

The name has been bandied around for at least a week.

Eddie has said this will likely be his last contract
