Blame the utter boor who stayed at my parents home in 2004, and crowed - or should I say, Ported? - shamelessly as your team stuck mine to the sword, fully cognisant that he was staying in a home as a favour to another friend, and that he was behaving in a manner that was beyond the boundaries of being a guest and into impropriety.

Note to self, don't offend Geth if you want to be on good terms with him within 15 years :p

LOB’s no where near ready to play at this level. He should be developing in the 2’s. Skills have been poor to date and no physical presence or break away speed...

Can run like Callum Chambers though...

The entire point of a rebuild is to invest games into players before their peak...

I like the average age of that Forward line!!

Great to see Pickett come in, hsould massively increase our ability to pressure the ball coming out of our forward line and if we can do that it makes a lot of other things so much easier.

Cripps must be over the moon as well, last week he got Kennedy back in and this week he gets Murphy - that is a lot of weight lifted of his shoulders!!

A bit harsh. I reckon he's had about 4 solid games. Probably needs to be managed a little more than Dow does, but like most kids, he can drift in and out of games a bit.

good write up, +polson with pickett should be exciting, hopefully kennedy brings the same form as he did last week and we will be right in this one :)

Reckon a decision will be made late with Casboult the way that team reads.

Big opportunity for Lamb to reinvent himself, Garlett too. Garlett was better last week than he has been but 4 quarters of effort is what we want.

Polson brought the pressure last week, looks to have it between the ears, if Pickett brings the same we could provide some problems for Port. A little more leg speed and run than we usually field. I like it.

We looked better with a smaller more mobile forward line even though we lacked a tall target at times which just shows we are a tall mobile marking player short. Another Charlie Curnow type would be great for us.

I don't see Casboult coming out - it was only a dislocation and a "split in the skin" - some stitches, some tape and some super glue should be able to get him through.

As for another Charlie - hopefully Harry or TDK become that player.

On Polson - everything I have read about him this year and his efforts in the VFL indicate he works incredibly hard - hopefully he can get some reward for effort this week, it might only take 1 good game for things to click for the kid. Completely agree on the possible impact of he and Pickett together.

Are you saying he'll kick......straight?

O'Brien is 18 years old. He will be back soon enough, a lot better players than him have been dropped to the VFL.

Spot on. In the context of O'Brien's career, this is but a very minor step in his development, physical and mental preparation and education - sure, his 200th game will be pushed back a week or two, but that's about it.

Yeah I think Casboult is more likely to play than not. Thing is with Casboult that his only thing is his marking and if he can't do that then he's no good to us. Should be right unless the joint does not come up. He's been named bench and Kerr emergency so I think we are ready for it to not come up.

I think Casboult type players who lack that running ability and mobility aren't favored by the game. There are some tall forwards out there who can really run and they aren't all super tall but they are good.

We definitely looked better with Casboult not there in some regards but were caught at times a tall forward short so we need to find that hard running tall forward.

Watching Jack Riewoldt tare Sydney apart last night, was an awesome display or hard running and marking. That's the sort of player we need to add to our forward line. That's the modern tall forward right there.

Hopefully one of them does or we can get that player somehow. My feeling is that TDK may be a bit ahead of McKay, might be a bit smarter when it comes to reading the play and leading at the right times, that's why I'd love to get him in the side but he's injured.

I loved Polson's game against Collingwood even though his stats were low. Stats don't indicate the amount or the quality of pressure acts which are valuable. A lot of teams who have won flags have players like him who even when they aren't getting the footy they are having influence on the game. I see some Caleb Daniel in Polson which is good because I rate him and certainly rated him when the Bulldogs win the flag for that season. Daniel quickly became a 20+ disposal player, different circumstances I know, but I think that can come with effort and opportunity.

I can see why they have signed him up. If Polson can give that energy, effort and pressure and add 20 odd disposals to his game he'll be a very valuable player.

I know the message has been consistent but I can’t help thinking there’s more to it

Consistency is a funny thing....guys like SPS a& LOB has struggled with it yet they get games to develop.

Seems like different strokes to me
I thought he got omitted a couple of weeks back because of the flu? Why can't he work on consistency in the 1sts where we desperately need some strike power?

Looking at the backline, we are running a bit thin on defenders aren't we if we've named Garlett and Lamb off half back. Perhaps Lamb to do a lock down/niggly role on Robbie Gray?
