If we were to finish last in 2019 you may as well stick a fork in the Carlton Football Club. The rebuild will have been deemed a failure, the coach will probably be gone, no decent FA would want to join us and we would be looking at starting all over again.

Next year needs to be quite a bit better than this year.

Bingo!

Other teams have illustrated the mental issues with clubs when you continuously have a loser mentality of rebuilding/reseting and high draft picks to make you successful. You become accustomed to making excuses when you’re not winning, not knowing how to win or more importantly what it is to be a winner. It’s a culture that has overtaken our whole club and it seems we don’t know how to remove it.

I hope I’m wrong but I can see a whole bunch of kids being influenced by the losing culture we are still excusing and talking about failure of the following year, before one year even ends..........

As I've posted elsewhere KP.

It is 8 years of horrendous drafting that got us where we are - not our trading.

SOS is just trying to make the best of a "shit sandwich".

We need all the help we can get.

Bloody oath it is!!
That was my response as to why I think the AFL won't give us a PP.

I don’t care...

Seeing enough in the young guys so there’s light, .but oh my kingdom for a good thumping win

I see the light at the end of the tunnel too and am fine with what is happening now as i think in a couple of years time things will be much better. I still don't think finishing last again next year will be tolerated though, it will bring on events that will just jeopardise everything that has been achieved over the past few years.

I think we are on the right track, I still don't see us finishing last next year, hell, I'm not even ready to concede that this year:D

Winning is not culture

Winning is a result

Culture does not happen overnight, it is an investment into a long term vision that requires strength of character to stay the course, rather than taking short term options because of extetnal noise or pressure

It does not require the best players, coach or game plan, it requires total buy in

Bingo! ;)

(Winning is an effect not a cause, you can't win from ground zero so the "winning culture" argument is moot).

Yeah wouldn't mind him he's a bit of a gun, would hate to break the bank on a player like him though, too inconsistent and his profile makes him expensive even if we do get him as a FA he'd expect big bucks likely.

Bit overrated for me though.

If we can get him on 600-700 as a FA that would be great, unlikely though.
No chance at that price. We are paying Murph 600 at 31yo.

I would imagine so. More than happy for Bolts to continue to pick him, and I expect he will. He's important to our structure at present as much as people don't like him.

I can't fathom this any longer.

Important in what way? We can't kick over 70 points (we've actually managed 70+ points 3! times this season)

When we got our only win, he wasn't there and we kicked 91 points.

He has played one good game this year. He is NOT important to our structure in any way, shape or form. He is and always has been detrimental to it. When the ball hits the deck, we might as well have a training cone out there.

People want to laud his contested marking, what's the point when you can't kick? Sure he's improved that part of his game but still can't be classified as a good kick, not by a long shot.

And to those that take this stuff personally, stop. He is a footballer and I'm commenting on his ability to play the game. This isn't a character vilification in any way, if anything, he's done very well for himself given how limited he is as a footballer which only speaks volumes to his character.

He has had a great run but his time is over now and Harry should be getting games instead.

Maybe your disdain for Levi Casboult in the team should be directed at Brendan Bolton, you know, the guy who continues to select him. Every week, every game that BB has been at the club. As far as Harry getting games, I would imagine when his attitude and work ethic improve he will get selected again. He shouldn't just get games because people don't Like Levi Casboult in the team.

I suggest you watch our game against Port Adelaide. Then see if you can justify keeping Levi in.

He won't need to justify it if the selectors pick him again.

Very fair assessment.

I'd happily throw next years first into a deal, If we finish last again surely we get a PP anyway

I can't even fathom finishing last next year. That would be ridiculous... We need to at some stage win a few games for everyone's sake. The jungle drums at news Corp and every other media outlet will be thumping if we finish last next year and rightfully so.

Well obviously it's not the goal

But I think the fact that we'll very likely get a PP if we did, should give us the courage to trade it this year if something good becomes available

E.g. Pick 1 and first next year for pick 2 and 3 from GC
