Ended up using the editor to reduce his wage as a coach from 10,000 to 2 pounds a week

LMAOOO sometimes it has to be done...

i think im officially addicted... it's getting concerning.
bringing Birmingham city back up to the PL and just starting to get emails about Brexit:fearful:

which is scaring me because my 3 best players are Italian... and im not understanding these Brexit rules. hope I dont get screwed.

Its random.

Sometimes (I think most of the time) the game gives you a "soft Brexit" and the rules effectively don't change. I'm pretty sure that occasionally it simulates a "hard Brexit" and then you need to get work permits for every non-UK player and the discretionary aspect of "outstanding talent"(or whatever the term is) is applied far more strictly

oh no.. well I'm assuming i got the hard Brexit because im getting info about work permits for non UK players who don't amount to a particular 'total of 'points'.

feck... wish i downloaded the mod to stop Brexit before this save smh

Yep, that sounds like the description I'd read for the hard Brexit model. Are you being told that you need work permits for players you already have or just ones you buy in the future?
oh man... that's done me.

i got the emails like 5 weeks ago (in game) and i can't remember exactly... hopefully they send another email soon.

Honestly, seeing Gigantor 's posts got me hooked on Football Manager again. The depth of this game gives you so much enjoyment, and even if you're using an old version (upgraded from 16 to 18 prior to this save) there are so many possibilities for you. Getting the FM editor has just added a whole new dimension to this game for me too, as even though im trying to avoid it, i can use it to get myself out of a financial or morale related grind. It's interesting how i increased my average crowd from 2440 to about 3000, and all of a sudden more clubs are accepting my loan deals and friendlies etc. Got Tim Cahill on loan from Milwall for 9 months before he retires and they're covering his whole wage

After reading other peoples games plus the end of the world cup, i decided to get back into it. Starting a new journeyman save in FM 2018.

Got a job inside a couple of weeks at Degerfors IF. a 2nd tier professional club in a town of 7K in the middle of Sweden. They are already halfway through the season and my job is to get them to safety. So far, played 3, won 2, lost 1. Managed to get out of the auto relegation to the relegation playoffs with that. There is a big gap towards true safety but what can you do. Only had 2 weeks left in the transfer window as well and no scouts or budget so I have to make do. Not that i could do much due to the stupid rules.

I don't like the fact you have to play 9 Homegrown players in each game in Sweden so might pack my bags regardless.

only accepted a 6-month contract so not really fussed either way

man I dont know how you can start that low haha

do people who do these journeyman style saves usually stay wit the one club?! that would take season upon season to get them to champions league level smh

Its in the name :p

Journeyman implies that you move teams as your reputation increases
ahhh yeah.. wasnt thinkin so literal lol

and yeah my Brexit is hard i think..
"bla bla bla.. British leagues will have a 17 squad limit of foreign players instead of rhe current work permit system

European Union players already playing in the UK will only face these restrictions when signing a new contract"

that's pretty decent tho? 17 foreigns for a squad of of 25.

trust me, I am wondering the same thing. After losing in the cup to a semi-pro team and losing despite killing a team and being 1-0 up, I now realise that this will be a long 18 months at least.

I did the same Journeyman save in FM 2017. It feels so rewarding to start at the bottom in the Czech Republic with Sokolov before beating Dortmund in the UCL and winning the Danish SuperLiga with Brondby. I dont move clubs as much as other people but I will move once i think i got the most out of the club.

Just had the most EPIC game in FM and now it is frozen. Devestating.

We went 2-0 down inside 30 mins including a shocking own goal where my defender passed it in the net. We had lost 4 straight leading up to this, so I was fairly down in the dumps and we were getting killed. Then we scored in the 83rd min. Okay, that's good for GD. surely not. scored again in the 88th and now i am getting excited. Push On, Push on. In the 93rd min, forward gets a 1 on 1 and bang, into the net 3-2!!!!!!!!! Lifts us out of the relegation zone. Boo yeah.

And not FM has frozen generating the match report :( Not fair. This game was the nuttiest game i have ever seen

moments like these usually set me back a few weeks.. a month. so hard to get over haha

so are we watching extended or just key highlights? i didn't realise my brand new laptop was so trash... I play with only 1 star speed with a database of only England and Spain smh

so i usually try to get thru my games quick.. with key highlights.

Extended initially, but once I know I've a good squad and a good tactic key highlights only.

In fact, I just use the instant result button my skin has for most games that don't involve Real Madrid, Barcelona, whichever team is 4th in La Liga (currently Almeria of all teams!) or the CL knockout stages

Its only taken 14 seasons

Its not even the strongest U19 team I've had, although one of them is a future star (and probably already a low La Liga quality AMC)

I go extended. I must admit, the Match engine is really improved over 2017. feels more realistic and random.

It took 7 tries of save scumming() to get that win back I lost from the crash. damn this team is frustrating. winning 2-0 away from home against the 2nd bottom. A win would guarantee a relegation playoff(yay) and we cough up 2 goals in the last 10 mins. That meant we had to get a result in the last game against 5th to survive auto-relegation. We win that one 4-1. Okay, we are doing great. We got this playoff sorted. first leg away from home against a semi-pro team and we are 3-1 down inside 60 mins. o_O. We do make it 3-2 after I sub off my uninterested forward:mad:. Seriously mate, its 2 games to make or break the season. This is what i have to work with. In the return leg, the biggest game of the season, we win 4-0. and survive.. I "quit"(etc save scum) to see what others jobs I could get.

Let's just say that the Swedish 2nd div is quite a nice league compared to the Hungarian 2nd div and I will try keep my job here in Sweden. Not easy when all the players hate you but the club has a nice wage budget (13K) after all.

Haven’t played since FM15 I think, is the 18 version pretty good?
Before getting FM18, the last version I played was 16 and there was enough difference between the two to make it a worthwhile purchase for me.

Beware though that the new squad dynamics feature can make it really hard to dig yourself out of a hole in early seasons if you set your reputation too low (whereas it didn't seem to matter at all in previous versions if you were a "Sunday footballer" or a "Former International")

I agree with this. Skipped 17 and waited until late with 18, but am really enjoying this new version. I think each reiteration is good for 2-3 years
