This Kavanagh allegation is straight out of House of Cards. Amazing story really.
I know why they're doing it but FMD it's ugly. Yes the GOP screwed Garland and all's fair in love and war.. but the (incredibly) self-righteous side of politics playing political games with rape.. really?
I just can't believe the public will stay on the fence for much longer giving Ford any benefit of doubt.
- Dems had this for months and sat on it because they had no other way of stopping the confirmation.
- 4 days before a vote she decides to come forward.. what a coincidence? If this was true surely you'd come out months ago? It would have stopped it then of true but conveniently they wait until there's no time for anyone else. The person who was apparently subject to an attempted rape os herself now joining the delaying tactics for the same reason?
- No one else is accusing the guy of anything like that.. 65 women signed a character reference as to how her treats women.. even his ex girlfriends.. Creeps don't do this sort of thing once do they?
--Dems would be falling over themselves to find ANYONE else to even accuse Kavanagh of harassment, let alone sexual assault.. and they cant.
- she says 5 people were at the party that she knows. None of them have any recollection and one of the women has come out saying she never remembers being at that sort of party or even knowing who Kavanagh was.
- 5 years ago she said there was 4 people in the room.. now her memory has decided it was 2 and the only person she points to is a guy who can't defend him because he's in the GOP and he cant remember it anyway
- She's not sure what year it was
- Or who's house it was in.. because he might be able to prove he never went there
- She says she was there as a 15 year old and just had one drink so her memory was fine! Please.. most of us have been 15 year olds at a piss up.. one drink? Try that on your parents..
- She's a registered Democrats who signed statements against certain Trump policies
- her lawyers only WANT her to testify in front of the senators because the GOP ones are male and it will look worse politically.. shouldnt they be looking out for the best interests of their client.. not doing favours for the Dems?
I just think it's the most digustingly low act I can remember in modern politics. Accusing a guy of attempted rape from 36 years ago and making it impossible for him to defend his name.. delaying it purely for poltical reasons and without a shred of evidence or anyone to back up any part of her story.
It's obviously clever but geez I hope Australia doesn't get that bad. Yuck.
