A certain newspaper reporter told me about 2 weeks ago that we weren't getting the pp, that the majority of the other clubs were lobbying against us.

This should be seen as a compliment to our list building if it's true other clubs lobbied against us.

Anyone that knows anything about footy would know our 2 wins doesn't reflect where our list is.

As disappointing as it is we didn't get a PP, we would have made out like bandits.

We all agree that we needed a PP simply to fast track our progress. The AFL are turncoats, but more painful is the humiliation of kicking a club on their knees encouraging the application then reneging due to political pressure. Blind Freddy can see that our performance this year can be attributed to our massive injuries coupled with the fact that our depth and age of the players remaining restricted us in regards to taking on mature bodies over 100 minutes of football week in week out.

The talent is obvious to all, it just means that we will take a while longer to rise to the top. Filling in the gaps with mature AFL standard players will just take a while longer. Surely the List management Dept has a plan B. and if the club was advised last week that our application was declined I hope this pan is already in action.

I desperately want success but now i am papered to suffer a few more hard yards cos when we rise I really want the the arrogance, swagger and the We are Carlton **** the rest back 3 fold!!!.

Well the whole alleged process and outcome has resulted in a Hail Mary outcome, if true.

Carlton and all clubs have had discussions with the AFL regarding various issues of running a footy club. No suggestion Carlton has applied for a PP. It’s all speculation.

We still have #1. Suns will end up with #s 2 and 3 (Lynch compo) which gives it flexibility during trade period however it does lose Lynch.

I certainly like the idea of ignored players redeeming themselves by doing the hard yards in state league competitions.

Maybe we can make some money from the film rights if we snag a beauty.

Robbo reporting from Paphos before being taxied to Larnaca today. Feeling pretty relaxed and unconcerned by AFL shenanigans. We all know the AFL runs the competition not the clubs.

Amen Brother!

Meh.

We’re not worse off than we were last week and it doesn’t change our course.

We’ll still want to pick a kid in the early part of the draft, be it #1 or top 5/7 and we’ll still be planning on trading for ‘mature’ players (2016 draft and earlier).

Say McAdams was going to go mid-late second round, we’ll that’s effectively what our PP is.

We don’t have to trade for McGovern if a deal can’t be struck. SOS will happily walk away if Reid is demanding too much. If anything it means we’re less likely to offer anything more than one of our second round picks as the only way Adelaide are getting their grubby mitts on #1 is if we get way overs.

At the end of the day pre-draft access to someone like McAdams is better than nothing.

Who knows, maybe the AFL will still slip us an end of 1st/2nd pick in the media storm that follows the grand final result.

Either way I’m not going to lose it over a draft pick we never actually had...
