Bit of an empty deal imo.
We will improve next year but id say we will still have a top 6 pick.
Would you trade 1 and 6 for 2 and 3?
Doing this while giving us an extra kid now also impairs our ability to package next years pick next year for a star which I think is in sos' plans.

That is true, perhaps we’d look to deal with another club to get another 1st rounder for next year? Alternatively we could trade Pick 1 for Pick 2 and something else if we’re confident we will get the player we want.

I would trade 1+6 for 2 and 3.

Wouldn't be surprised to see Port trade 6 + 10 + Hombsch to Gold Coast for Pick 3 + 29. Gold Coast take Lukosius at 2 then Rozee at 6. Just depends on whether they feel taking both the SA boys mitigates the go home factor. Port then take Rankine at 3 obviously. I feel like he is the one they are gunning for to be honest.

Smith is better than Walsh

If we can get 2/3 for 1 and a future 1st I’d do it

Grab Smith and Rankine/Rozee and we’ve done very well

Maybe sos is playing his cards real close to his chest and rates smith higher than Walsh too. If so then the following would be a big win.

-Pick 1 and 2019 first for pick 2 and 3

- Pick 2 to Port for 6 and 10

Take 3&6 to the draft. Take smith and another one of the other top talents.

10 to GWS for Settlefield and 2019 second round pick*

*Could instead trade 6 to gws (and we take 10 to the draft) for Settlefield and 2019 first if we want to get back into the first round next year.

If we are any chance for Kelly next year we will need our 2019 First

Would you trade #1 and #1 for #2 and #3?

Really need a premium and maybe Scrimshaw or Brodie are the kicker?

Love Smith - trained with us pre-season and is a great kid. Have a listen to him on Cal Twomey's podcast - super committed and has a lot of AFL traits. If this is the way the dominos fall and SOS actually wants Smith, I'll back him in. This could allow SOS to get one of his beloved King boys, however they're the last player/s we need right now.

But I still want (and think SOS wants) Walsh.

Those suggesting Port give up Wines or Cows give up M Crouch I think really need to consider why on earth they would do that. Trades need to make some sort of sense for BOTH sides.

There do appear to be some legitimate "unique circumstances" that could see some further shuffling at the top end of the draft, though. We'd certainly be happy to keep 1 and take Walsh, but you'd have to think SOS would look at a top ~6 pick and something very useful for 1, which is almost have your cake and eat it too stuff. And there are reasons why you could see that working from the other side, being there's some ultra-talented SA guys who are perhaps just out of draft reach for Port and Crows as it stands. And both clubs hold strong draft pick hands, so could afford to consolidate/trade up.

But the Adelaide teams aren't gutting their squads to move up a few spots.

Don't think anyone genuinely believes Wines or Crouch would be on the table.

But I think they'd need to be for us to consider trading pick 1. If we're not getting a <25yo gun mid, take Walsh and start planning for next year's acquisitions.

I would trade 1+6 for 2 and 3.

So would I, in a heartbeat

Thats where im leaning atm.
I think a deal could be struck where an SA club gets 1, we get 2 and something nice on the side and gc get maybe 6 and 10 from port for example could be a possibility.

Port gets their SA man at pick 1.
GC get 3 top 10 picks this year.
We maximize our assets whilst still getting the top player on our board at 2

Edit*
Port do this involving us to ensure adelaide doesn't offer a godfather deal for pick 1 and all their hard work trading up only gets them their number 2 man

2018 1st + 2019 1st to GCS
GCS 2018 2nd & 3rd to Carlton
2nd to Adelaide for their 8 and 13 and change.

GCS get Walsh
Adelaide get Lukosious
Carlton get Smith at 3, and also have another 2 first rounders this year

Get a 2019 First round pick back from Adelaide, as they value this years draft highly and we will need a first round pick next year for Kelly.

ie #3 to Adelaide for #8 and their 2019 First Round Pick (#13-18?). Keep pick #2 (Walsh or Smith or Rozee or Rankine) and get King at #8 if one slides.
