Says who exactly?

Gold Coast Sun are far FAR more likely to trade down, not trade up.

Port has pick 6 & 10. Trade Winguard to Dogs and maybe get 7.

Gold Coast give 2 & 3 for 6, 7 & 10.
Gold Coast trade May to Melbourne for pick 5 via Hogan to Freo trade.

So Gold Coast turn 2 & 3 & May into 5, 6, 7 & 10.
Or Gold Coast turn 2 & 3 & May into 1 & 5.

Sorry, I can't see Gold Coast wanting to deal with us just for Sam Walsh. What if in 2 years Walsh gets homesick?
His source which he rightly won't disclose.

Just because you can't see it happening doesn't mean it won't.

2018 1st + 2019 1st to GCS
GCS 2018 2nd & 3rd to Carlton
2nd to Adelaide for their 8 and 13 and change.

GCS get Walsh
Adelaide get Lukosious
Carlton get Smith at 3, and also have another 2 first rounders this year

I love this thought... then maybe we could offer GWS 8 for Shiel... that deal isn’t done yet and I would be surprised if he couldn’t be persuaded to change his mind AGAIN...

Anyone they draft could get homesick

You're not on your own with that thought. Some people seem to want to move it on for pennies in the $.

The only reason I could see for moving next year's first would be to take a double or even triple dip in this year's top 10. It'd be absolutely fill the boots with young talent, and that's it, with next year (and probably beyond) all about Free Agents. Ie. Buying in the help.

But I think that'd be at odds with what the club has stated the intent is. First pick next year will be critical in any discussions with big trade targets.

Gold Coast may want Sam Walsh (might).
What if Sam Walsh doesn't like the Gold Coast (in two years).
Turn 2 picks into one and then see that one walk away in a couple years.

Gold Coast dealing with Adelaide and Port Adelaide via a dutch auction makes sense.

You could say that about any player in the draft this year who isn't from qld.

I want to take Walsh also btw.

Apparently Crows talking to Brisbane about Pick 5.

Trade period is crazy this year.

Except Brizzy needs that pick for Freo B&F winner Lochie Neale.
Freo trades to Melbourne for Hogan.
Melbourne trades to to Gold Coast for May.

If the Bears trade it to Adelaide a whole stack of cards falls down. It would be chaos :)

Was told this morning and I think it has been mentioned here, but Gold Coast are certainly looking at bringing in pairs of players. This is why Miles and Ellis came together and why they would take Lukoscous and Rozee/ Rankine. Trading up for 1 also makes sense given the hype around Walsh's character.

Smith is probably ahead of Walsh in the endurance stakes and has speed

Walsh 2nd in yo-yo with 22.1. Smith not in top 10 (< 21.4)
Walsh 3rd in 2km with 6:07. Smith not in top 10 (>6:15)
