Doesn’t Thomas need to be elevated? I know we played him as a nominated rookie this year, but he still needs to go through the formal elevation unless the rules have changed.

Lynch was re-signed mid-year.

Assuming our starting 22 has Dunn, Moore, Grundy, Cox and Mihocek as our preferred talls. I can't see how we play all of Goldsack, Madgen, Tohill, Keane, Shaz, McLarty, Lynch and likely Kelly and Roughead. Without considering the VFL talls. Someone will need to be shed and McLarty is the only one sitting without a contract it seems. It might also mean Madgen (was he re-signed?) is in trouble or we're less keen on Kelly than it appears. It'll be intersting how it pans out.

I didn't realize he was still technically a rookie? I thought he was elevated last year. He's on the senior list on the players section of the OS.

Take a guess which one of the approx 1000 in contract players to move clubs this trade period Robbo has an issue with?

Robbo: Brisbane Lions should make Dayne Beams play out contract unless Collingwood offers mega deal
OCTOBER 16, 2018The curious case of Dayne Beams will be played out on the last day of the trade period and, in all likelihood, he will be traded to Collingwood.

That’s what happens into today’s football.

If a contracted player wants to leave his club, they mostly always get to where they want to go.

The Lions, however, should buck the trend.

Pretty sure this is the same journo who wrote a masturbatory article a few days ago about how brilliant it was that Dylan Shiel was going to Essendon.

Must be on the turps again, I feel sorry for people with alcohol addiction but oh well

Interesting call. I'd never really thought about it. Plus youve forgotten Reid.

I don't think Goldsak has had a contract announced yet, may not be a certainty. Several of the guys mentioned can and probably will have to play flanks.

Mason Cox was our only elevation last year. So he hasn’t been elevated but perhaps they intend to so have left him on the seniors page?

That's possible. Or could they have done it without us not realizing it?

Im pretty sure this is his third year and thus has to be elevated.

Just reading that article from Robbo, how he even mentions a swap or treloar or grundy is hilarious, he like caro honestly shouldn't have a place in the media with some of the dribble they come out with.

Josh Thomas was most certainly still on the rookie list this year. I would think he would be elevated for next season. The club has had this wrong on the website all year! I have brought this issue up every now and then, and it's been largely ignored/disagreed with! The AFL Season Guide and the AFL Record show that he was still on the rookie list.

They did make significant changes to the rules regarding rookies for this year. Category A Rookies could play from round 1 onwards, they no longer needed to be "nominated", or have to wait for a long-term-injury. Only Category B Rookies now have to be "elevated" during the season.

Regardless, he'll be on the senior list next year. He's had his three years, so he'll be elevated if he hasn’t officially been already. I personally don't think Mihocek will be elevated as there seems no advantage for him or the club in elevation.

I will wait till the trade is done and we know the details before l can say it was good or bad, rather than going off the media.
Taking the sensible approach Lefty.
Doesn't work on BF.
Hissy fits, outrage, indignation, rage. This is what we want to see.
Personally I think Brisbane can GAGF. No way we should pay 2 firsts. This deal is not a need for us it is a want. We are the ones with the upper hand.
If we give up 2 first rounders I'm going to buy a burka and live in exile in Afghanistan under the name Fatima. F*** it, im done re...

On this, how many team’s pillows do we need to fluff?

The Hawks are clinical with how they go about it. Most of the players they seal the deal come in cheap as chips. Then there’s us who shit the bed on Sam Murray types (disregarding the ultimate relative favourability by our unexpectedly high finishing position this year)

You would hate to be a hostage in a siege with the CFC called in to negotiate with the perpetrator. Be good as dead.

It's Brisbsne that need this trade done asap. Beams wants out. They've promised Neale. They need 18.

So why the f@#k are we the ones seemingly over the barrel?

This was the perfect opportunity to stand our ground and see who blinks first.

Ned guy could set up a banana lounge and drink cocktails waiting for Brisbane to cave in to 2018 1st and 2019 2nd ( with late picks coming back)

Instead it sounds like we're going to be 'charitable' ...again.

Collingwood- trade bunnies.
I second this.
For once we are in the position of power yet somehow Brisbane are dictating terms to us.
Just tell Brisbane what we are willing to pay and be done with it.
I've said it before and I reiterate. Beams is a want not a need.

I third this! (is that how it works?)
They need 18 more than we want Beams.
Our 2019 second for there pick 32 or 41 if needed but that's it.

What the hell is wrong with clubs that deal with the Hawks?

Do you want them to get another three peat?

Seriously?
Scully for a future 4th rounder, that's a future pick anywhere between 60-80.
He is elite. Despite this current ankle injury cloud, he's clearly worth more than that. What a joke GWS. Does Wrighty have some elicit photos of McCartney or something?

Scrimshaw and a future 4th rounder for a third rounder. What in the hell? He's only been in the system 2 years, former no7 pick of 2016, huge wraps on him 2 years ago. Even we got a future second rounder from the Saints for an injury plagued and yet to debut N.Freeman. Gold Coast would have to arguably be the worst environment for a player to develop in. Watch this kid flourish under Clarko. Again GC Suns, what a joke.

We can't even broker a fair and reasonable deal for May or Beams, and these circus clown deals are going on.
Yes, Hawks can land 3 former top 10 draft picks (Scully Pick 1, Wingard Pick 6, Scrimshaw Pick 7).
I can understand the Scully salary dump & ankle issues, although still appears to be a bargain, the Wingard Trade will be fair & balanced...however Scrimshaw is definitely a bargain.
The Hawks are here to stay...they use Trade & Free Agency better than any other club.
Their draft record (with later picks) is also very good.

Our 2019 second for there pick 32 or 41 if needed but that's it.
Our 2019 2nd Round will probably be late 20’s to mid 30’s??
Hence, picks 32 & 41 are worth more.
No way would Brisbane do that.
It will be Pick 18 plus 2019 1st with the picks coming back to us (for IQ & Kelly) OR no trade.
If we pull out, then fine, although doubt we can land May instead...we don’t have the required trade currency (unless a player included) & time running out for that anyway.
If we go to the draft with pick 18...
(a) we may have to use Pick 18 on IQ anyway or
(b) we may have to go into points deficit, resulting in our 2019 1st Round being pushed back to a mid 20’s Pick?
We either have Beams plus IQ & Kelly
or some 18 year old (late teens pick this year) plus IQ & Kelly plus mid 20’s Pick 2019?
or IQ & Kelly plus mid/late teens 1st Round pick 2019.
A bird in the hand...
