Injury Wines has done his shoulder

It's beginning to feel as if the club is deliberately antagonising the fans and members now, and if football really has become 'work' that you need a 'release' from, I reckon it's time to retire.

I know it's really bloody hard, but at the same time it is also supposed to be a dream come true.

It’s almost as if the standards for professionalism aren’t as high as they should be, and in the last 4 years they’ve played in and lost 1 final. After being predicted to “dominate the AFL”

Kane Cornes has said he let us down, as has Garry Lyon.

Sheedy has said “if you want to win premierships you need to get your act together”

Boaks tweet poor, surfing and wakeboarding are two very different activities.

This whole attitude is poor. What’s more important to them, having fun or winning premierships ? I’m starting to question just how much they all want it.

I don’t think Hardwick would have an “oh well, this happens” attitude if Dusty popped his shoulder out wakeboarding and missed 2-3 months.

Hinkley's lame response and Boak's endorsement of that article has left me feeling pretty cold.

You don't get a work/life balance in elite sport. If you don't want it bad enough, someone else will. It's really easy to see why we have been such an unsuccessful club for more than a decade now.

Not just unsuccessful, the biggest underachievers in the AFL the last few years. Paul Roos comments late last year.

It’s pretty clear to me at the moment, they don’t want it enough.

“Keep paying us handsomely to underperform, or be unable to perform lol”

No finals 7 of the last 10 years and we allow our players two months out to do things like this in peak pre season really?

We talking about a club that’s meant to be “ Professional” but we nothing more then amateur hour. One thing enjoying leisure time away from footy that’s what the off season for but let’s keep things in to context

Hinkley again sure seems to be building a winning culture hay

Shoulder injuries are a bitch that can linger or become chronic, sounds like subluxation which will end up putting him away for a couple of months at least, it can take a while to gain confidence in the joint, everytime you go in hard in the back of your mind you worry can take the hit
Have a look at Rockliff everytime he takes a knock, he instantly checks the stabilty of the joint

We don't lose players because our expectations are low in the dedication stakes. Then got surprised when Wingard was given an inch and he took a mile in regards to being loose. We left it too late to be hard on him and he didn't take the criticism well as a result.

Yet another example of not being in touch with the supporter base.

Man, I really miss the Tredrea & Kornes personality types. Does any player come close with their work ethic?

Lol it’s football, not a ****ing prison. And even in prison they have recreation time. If a group of boys wanna head to the river and wakeboard, you’ll reduce their performance by saying no because they’ll resent you for it. It has to be their decision to not go because it’s so close to the season.

As others have said, you can bet that none of them will do it again. In public the club might be pragmatic, but you can bet your arse they are livid behind closed doors.

Now, you might say “They shouldn’t have been doing it so close to season anyway” but seriously, it was a freak accident. It could just as easily happened at training. Shit happens, and it will give guys like Powell-Pepper the chance to shine.

As for the surgery: Have you ever known this club to take the risky option when it comes to a player? We are conservative as ****. If Wines is having surgery to tighten his shoulder, it means the tendons were stretched during the dislocation but there was no rotator cuff tear. He’ll be back to full performance in 12 weeks at the latest. That means he’ll miss Melbourne, Carlton and Brisbane and probably return for Richmond in a worse case scenario.

None of those teams require Wines to win.

It just shows he shouldn’t be captain. He’s still a kid. And Boak’s response shows why he isn’t captain anymore. If Jonas was there, he shouldn’t be captain either.

Give it to Hamish. He’s your guy.
