I enjoy watching McClure on 360. He's often inarticulate and harsh, but he shoots straight as he sees it and clearly loves the club. It's a tough love type of approach.

Whether he's right or wrong, overly critical etc. etc. you know it's all coming from a place where just wants the club to be successful again. The only night of 360 I watch (and only that segment tbh) unless Carlton win and we'll get some positive airtime.
Me too, along with re record and skim on Mondays if we have won. :D

If Daisy doesn't go around again it will be a loss for our club.

Obviously we will Docherty coming back (touch wood) but I think we still need another experienced half back flanker and Simmo looks like he's on his last legs. If we didn't have both Simmo and Daisy available this week who would we be playing at half back - opposite Newwy? Stocker, Willo and Schu. All three are young and Willo is injury prone.

Only way I could see Thomas going is if we brought in someone like Cunningham from the Swans.

I actually think there's a strong chance that, if he were to make that offer, he'd be told to bugger off. Not sure he would be the most popular ex-player with some of our hierarchy.
Your probably correct. They wouldn't like the anti-coach angle that he pushes. Still love him though. I can't help but think some of his opinions have some truth in this age of over-coaching. The players need to learn to drive their own future a bit more.

FWIW I think there is truth in what McClure has said on 360. Nobody knows what Judd is up to behind the scenes. I find the evidence interesting.

How much True feedback did he give bolton?

Was Teague in the know before the comments?

How much does the Football Ops Manager get involved with advice and mentoring?

Personally I think his role is crucial. I hope that I am wrong in my fears. I would love to see him more often on the track or evidence of him getting involved.

Too busy posting shirtless pics on his Instagram and giving the market his "hot tips" for investing.

He’s not the football ops manager. He’s not part of football operations - why would there be a need to see him more often on the track?

Brad Lloyd is the football ops manager.

So Thomas maybe not to get another contract and Simo to retire,I’d keep one just in case even though Doc comes back.

Would seem surprising with Simmo likely to retire.

Doc & Willo are clear best 22 defenders but we can't be sure they'll get on the park...both have had basically 2 years out with injuries. Even if they do get on the park they may not be the same players they were.

Outside Daisy & Newman (who was shaky last week) we only have unproven players like Stocker, Garlett & Schumacher...

The only way we can afford to let Daisy go imo is if we're bringing 1, maybe even 2 mature defenders in...eg Ellis and Cutler.

May also be a school of thought at the club that guys like O'Brien, SPS and Setterfield can go through there as well.

Doc, Willo, Plowman, Newman, SPS, Setterfield, O'Brien, Stocker, Garlett, Schumacher - plus anyone with bring in (ie. Cunningham, Ellis, Cutler etc.)

On LOB/SPS/Setterfield maybe they could fill a gap on occasion but wouldn't want to be going into a season with the idea that any of them would be playing defence essentially full-time. Don't see half back as the strong suit of any of them...the most likely who could pull it off probably being SPS.

I could see Stocker maybe stepping up, but i'm not holding my breathe on Garlett or Schumacher being up to the level week in, week out.

Anyway, as mentioned i'll be surprised if Daisy was let go without us bringing in a mature defender to replace him.

Agreed - but I reckon 4 dedicated, AFL grade smaller rebounding defenders is manageable if we have 6+ others who can pinch hit for a week here or there. We probably do need to secure one more though, just to be safe, especially if we're wanting to continue developing the others in their preferred positions.

Still like what Cutler offers...

The question marks over Doc & Willo's ability to return to the senior team and play well is a bit of a headache.

If we knew they would be fit, then we're fine for smaller defenders. But if both miss big chunks again next year we'd be in trouble without Simmo or Daisy.

Agree, i reckon someone like Cutler or B Ellis would be in our sights as cheap, mature replacements.

Ellis Cunningham Lester are all FA's and Langdon & Cutler aren't contracted. All talented running defenders. Get 1 or 2 and add a Brad Hill on the wing and with Doc & Willo coming back and a mid like SPS or Stocker playing back there I reckon we are set. Looks very good to me.

I honestly don't care about who gets named in the bests most of the time, because it's not a coach, or an umpire or a panel usually picking that list of names.

I've been watching enough of him this year, and if he is afforded space he doesn't drop his marks and can sit in the hole. If he is forced to line-up directly on someone, he can only get his hands on the footy if he's able to force it into a wrestling match. He was an insane pick, and retaining him is an insane move.

Melbourne exposed this last game, where they sucked him into contests, brought the ball to ground and easily weaved around him and Schumacher. All the intercept marks in the world aren't going to save an AFL team from such a glaring weakness.

Melbourne had 19 behinds on the weekend, so it's no surprise to me that Schumacher and Goddard managed 37 kicks between them.

I wholeheartedly reject the notion he was an "insane pick". That's just not correct, whichever way you choose to spin it.

Goddard was a highly rated junior who hasn't yet developed as expected, largely due to injury. He's still relatively young, and when we selected him we had just cut into our defensive depth by delisting Rowe and Glass-McCasker.

He was invited to train with the club through the preseason and impressed, so who are you to say he didn't deserve another opportunity?

Now he's here and from all reports he has been very solid for the Northern Blues all year - so much so it looks as though he may play seniors this weekend.

It is absolutely laughable that you readily dismiss that form and those opinions of him because of a poor piece of play here or there, or even a poor performance.

It is just as laughable that you can't let go of your preconceived ideas about a player when evaluating their worth. Let's put aside the fact you think it was "insane" to select him in the first place - now he's here and performing - you think it's insane to reward him for it?

Please.

What would truly be insane would be to pick him up, watch him do everything asked of him, and not reward him for it, be it with senior selection or another contract.

What message are you sending to him or any other prospective footballer who we're interested in? Not a great one, I'll tell you that much.

Charlie will most probably be put in cotton wool for the rest of 2019.
Is this some sort of info or a hunch? Seems unlikely to me with 7 games to go. Probably misses two more. Extremely unlikely to have a recurrence of his injury type. Reckon they would be keen to pump the extra 4 or 5 games into him and Charlie would be charging at the bit to be out there.

That's what I reckon ..
Teague....
Charlie we're thinking of resting you for the rest of the year ..is that okay ..
Charlie ..
Like **** you are ..I'm playing as soon as I'm good to go ..
