far better result than jumping ship after leaving port......While I'd love that to be true, can't see a Port captain jumping ship.
We will smash themWe had so many fumbles and the lack of game plan and polish from the last time we played them.
Just need to apply pressure early and let everyone play their role.
We won’t smash them but 4 points is good enough for me.
Not worried.
Nope. What you want, then, isn't so much a mentor as someone to nod and agree or shake their head and tell you you're a moron occasionally.
Basically, we should just give the next coach a magic 8 ball.
More like some cheap port in a paper bag......Low level rumour from someone at work

I know, was trying to be funny. Didn't work.Nope.
You need someone who can tell you that you are doing the wrong thing but you also don’t want to stifle a coaches creativity as sometimes the Hail Mary works.
The senior mentor should almost wait to be approached rather than needing every decision run past them. They should also spend plenty of time observing and making notes about how a situation could or should be handled differently. That can then be discussed at daily/weekly meetings with the coach.
If the coach needs everything signed off by the mentor, you might as well simply make the mentor the head coach.
back of the queue........I know, was trying to be funny. Didn't work.
I know, NANE...back of the queue........
Holy s**t, that's telling.Saw this on Facebook not sure if it’s been posted here.
David Teague - The CV
Taking a closer look into our current interim coach for some context into his career
Playing career:
Played 83 games across 6 seasons for North Melbourne and Carlton.
In 2004 at Carlton he won the John Nicholls Medal as the BnF winner and also won the prestigeous Afl Robert Rose award for the Most Courageous player in the Afl.
Other players to win this include: Gavin Brown, Glenn Archer, Jon Brown, Rory Sloane, Luke Parker, Paul Kelly, Luke Hodge, Joel Selwood.
Coaching Career:
In 2007 Teague started as a player/coach for the Northern Bullants and a development coach at Carlton before becoming Full time coach in season 2009.
The Northern Bullants made the GF in both 2009 and 2010.
From 2011 to 2013 he was the defensive line coach at West Coast.
They finished 5th for points against in 2011 after the wooden spoon in 2010 and 4th for scores against in 2012.
He then spent 2014 at St.Kilda before moving to Adelaide from 2015-2017 as the forwards coach.
Adelaide was ranked in top 3 for scores for in all 3 seasons:
2015 - 3rd
2016 - 1st
2017 - 1st (made grand final)
He was then appointed as Carlton forwards coach at the end of 2017, before being introduced as the interim coach 5 weeks ago.
He currently has a 3 win 2 loss record and since taking over Carlton is ranked in the top 5 for:
Forward half intercepts
Points from forward half intercepts
Points from forward half chains.
Carlton in that time rank equal 7th for goals scored per game with an avg. of 12.2 goals per game and in the past 5 games would sit 8th on the afl ladder with a solid percentage of 104.4%
Coupla tidbits I've heard from a contact:
We are keen on Papley and he is keen on us, deal likely gets done
Roos has said he will come to Carlton if Michael Voss is made coach, hence the interest all of a sudden. He's less warm on Teague
Club doesn't think we're a chance at Coniglio and quite frankly isn't interested at the $$ being discussed
Sounds like this will be SOS's last trade/draft period. David Walls mooted as a possible replacement

The near queue or the far one?back of the queue........
You know, as in Robert Walls' son, briefly on Carlton's list.Amazing if true re Papley
Makes sense with Roos’ recent behavior. Hopefully we tell him and Voss to gagf.
A shame if we miss Coniglio but makes perfect sense and aligns with our strategy of not overpaying. If he wants mega bucks then look elsewhere. Like someone else said we need to make sure our core including Crippa Charlie Weiters Walsh etc. are happy $$$ wise.
Who is Walls? Is he from Sydney? A shame if SOS leaves but we can’t begrudge him. He has done the heavy lifting for our future success. Can’t believe how much he was targeted by the media hounds and even some of our own supporters at the beginning of the year. The last six weeks have shown that he has actually done a remarkable job in a tough situation. Would love if he stayed though!

Before my time, too, (Robert, that is) to be honest. I think David is at Freo. I can remember being hopeful that he would be a chip off the old block. Thanks! Must have been before my time. Hope he has recruiting experience if he comes on board.
