At the very least, it puts a tighter squeeze on Essendon's cap with them having to raise their offer to Tippa
Essendons cap would have to be very tight.

Danniher, Heppell, Hooker, Hurley, Shiel, Stringer, Smith, Merrett would all have to be on a fair bit. Fantasia leaving likely eases the pressure by a fair b

Our current draft hand is:
Pick 7 (1,644 points)
Pick 25 (756 points)
Pick 41 (412 points)
Pick 43 (378 points)
Pick 45 (347 points)

I'd be seriously approaching Gold Coast about getting their Pick 17 from them. Connor Budarick could potentially get a bid before that point, swallowing up that pick anyway.

If we offered up a package of 25, 43 and 45 (total 1,481 points) in return for 17 and 50 (total 1,298) this gives Gold Coast the ability to match a bid from Pick 19 onwards using only Pick 25, essentially meaning they've turned their only other pick besides Pick 1 worth anything (Pick 50) into two earlier picks (43 and 45). It also brings us further into the 1st round. Alternatively, we could offer all of the 3rd rounders (1,137) plus a future 3rd rounder (bringing it to roughly 1,400 points) which allows Gold Coast to move their pick 50 slightly up the order, match a bid on Budarick, as well as stockpile more picks for any academy players next year.

This leaves us with Pick 7, 19, 25, 79, 97, etc... Depending on how many live picks we want, this could be enticing for both clubs
Good analysis - but I'd rather Jack Martin, with pick 17 as option B ;)

I'd happily take Martin instead of Pick 17, but I'd be hesitant to pay so much. I struggle to rate Martin much higher than an early 2nd at this stage. If we gave them 25 + 45, I'd be happy with that. Or all three of our 3rd rounders. Both would be great - I think once you go past the first few players in this draft, the difference between the next 20 or so players is quite minimal. We could still be looking at serious quality as late as Pick 25, so doesn't both me which way we go this year

Back from yet another 7 day self ban.

Congratulations to Matt Hammelmann 60 x Goals in 2018 followed up by another 51 x Goals from 14
Games in 2019 so far in the season.

All playing for the Redland Bombers who have won three games in that time period a performance of
great merit from a young man who played 9 Games as a key defender for Brisbane as a rookie.

I would give you a contract at the Y.F.C, Yojimbo Football Club, but it only exists in my imagination
where we are headed for our tenth premiership on end.

Easton Wood is yet to be involved in a discussion about a succession plan for the Western Bulldogs captaincy but expects a discussion to take place at the end of the season.
Wood, who turns 30 in September, famously led the Dogs to the 2016 premiership, standing in as captain after Bob Murphy’s season-ending injury.

Murphy returned to the leadership in 2017 but retired at the end of that season, after which Wood was appointed skipper in a full-time capacity.
Wood has played all 17 games this year, leaving him on track to play every match in a campaign for the first time since he was drafted in 2007.

He remains in reasonable form, earning two AFL Coaches’ Association votes in Sunday’s loss to St Kilda, and is hopeful of playing for several more seasons.
Dogs star Marcus Bontempelli, 23, who sits second on the AFLCA champion player leaderboard, is vice-captain and has long loomed as Wood’s likely successor.
Wood said he loved the captaincy but envisaged a potential changing of the guard would be talked about at Whitten Oval later in the year.
“There hasn’t been any talk about succession planning but I’ve got no doubt we’ll have that conversation at the end of the year,” Wood told The Age on Wednesday.
“But I love the captaincy. It brings with it its challenges, but it’s an incredibly privileged role to have and the honour’s not lost on me.

“I’ve really enjoyed and learnt so much through my time being captain so far, so if I’m the right man for the job I’ll happily keep going, but it’s not something you can do forever.”
Wood said he’d been challenged by having to play regularly as a deep defender early this season but added that the inclusion of Jackson Trengove - who has played the past 12 games for the side - had made life easier.
“It’s been partly different at different times,” Wood said.
“We’ve had some injuries to our taller boys and obviously with Aaron Naughton swinging forward at the start of the year, earlier in the year I was probably playing a bit deeper than I was probably normally used to. But there’s never a year without its challenges. But I feel like I’ve adapted to that.
“What I’ve been really happy with is I’ve been fit.”

While the defeat to the Saints was a major blow to the Dogs’ finals chances, Wood spoke positively of the way his side had performed since the mid-season bye, while lamenting the inconsistency that has plagued the Dogs - who have beaten premiership fancies Geelong, Brisbane and Richmond this year but also lost to lowly Carlton, Gold Coast and the Saints.
“I’ve been really pleased with, particularly when we came back after the bye, what we’ve been able to do. I feel like we’ve really gelled and played some really strong football, and really connected as a group, which has been really, really pleasing,” Wood said.
“One thing that I think has been fantastic as well is I think we’ve had 10 or so boys re-sign to long-term deals, and obviously signing the coach [Luke Beveride] last week as well was fantastic. So it’s just a really good feeling amongst the group.”
And despite being a game and percentage outside the top eight, Wood was adamant that a return to the finals remained a realistic goal.
“Absolutely. Theres’s no game that we go into that we think we can’t win. We really feel if we bring our best we’ll beat anyone. It’s just the striving to make sure we can bring that every week. That’s our challenge, that’s everybody’s challenge.”

Would love to throw him a rookie spot, or potentially draft him as a late pick. 197cm with AFL experience, honestly makes more sense on our list than Gardner at this stage

It’s hard to picture Josh Caddy in our colours without vomiting in my mouth just a little.

He’s one of my favourite non-dogs players. On field he looks as dumb as a doorknob but when he’s up and going he’s great to watch. Big fan of those dumb brevado players.

Regardless of his own form, I think Woody’s been a fantastic captain. He represents the club very well (the looks help!) and the boys all look up to him.

Must be some sort of knock on him for nobody to have taken a chance. Maybe he just doesn’t want to play afl level.

Don’t understand the hate for Gardner. He was thrown to the wolves, debuting a week after being drafted and playing two difficult games and was at least serviceable in one of them. Good players have had far less impressive starts to life as an AFL footballer. I think he’ll prove a lot of doubters wrong if given another go around next season.

Looks limited but worth developing as a dour lock down back. I don’t see anything to suggest he’s an afl quality tall forward.

Corr wouldn’t be worth as much as people think. As good as he has shown, he’s injury prone and now far down the line at Gws (Davis and Taylor Kpd, Haynes third tall). An early second rounder would be about the mark.

Hill
Corr
Smith
Martin

They’d be our four main targets at this stage.
