Yep, he did two bad kicks, that were intercepted- no question about that- but the fact he went at 86% efficiency means he only had 1 other ineffective disposal for the game, which in our team is very very good going.

I've been very critical of Blake's kicking in the past, but for mine he's been one of few if anybody who's kicking has clearly improved in our team this year.

For weeks earlier in the year he hardly missed a target by foot and was also one of few I was confident would actually spot a target inside 50 and hit them.

And this was reflected in his kicking efficiency numbers from the Footy Record after R14.

His 67% KE put him 7% above the AFL average for both "mids" and "forwards".

As a matter of interest, here are the rest of them:

92%- Hind (2)
85%- Phillips (4)
69%- Skunk (13)
67%- Acres (11)
65%- Newnes (13)
64%- Billings (13), Steele (11)
63%- Bruce (13)
62%- Parker (13), Young (3)
60%- (AFL ave)- Stuv (4), Kent (13)
58%- Clark (5)
57%- Seb (13)
56%- Lonie (6), Sincs (13)
55%- Gresh (13)
53%- Hanners (1)
52%- Dunstan (9), Long (8)
One thing about Acres is he can break open play better than anyone in the team - by kick or handball , if only he could get hold of the ball more.

That would be so St.Kilda 🙄

Dead set blasphemy that is. King and Marshall are as close to a sure thing as we’ve had since Rooey and Kos. You build teams, he’ll you build CLUBS, around players like Roma and King. Untouchable.

Only our stupid supporters.
StKilda have never traded out good young players. Not on purpose anyway.

King is coming back from an ACL and now an ankle syndesmosis, hasn't strung a full preseason together since U16s and is yet to debut. I'm a little doubtful that he's in the same convo as one of the greatest key forwards of all time just yet.
I was comparing a 19 year old king to a 19 year old Rooey. A young forward showing signs to be a generational player. The kid kicked 4 in his 2nd (or 3rd?? 🤔) game back after ACL and no footy for 12 months.

Remember when he started using the board that had a few simple stats on it like number of tackles for the quarter?
I remember Patrick Smith wrote an article ridiculing him saying something like 'Cornflakes thinks the game can be explained with numbers...'
Look at sports metrics now...

What about starting our captain on the bench against the wb I believe.

Yeh. In the VFL. Eli Templeton is a champ in the VFL. I'm just saying maybe cool your wraps on him just a bit until he actually does something in the AFL. Until then he's just got potential.

I just have this strange inkling that he'd be able to get his hands on it more if he was potentially exposed to it more often in some sort of centralised position on the ground...

He might get it more but its whether it helps the side. He has to replace someone and if they are better then we lose but he may win.

Trade membrey and bruce so King can take over aswell?
Might aswell trade Carlisle because we have battle.
See ya later Marshall, we have alabakis!
Adios Billings, Bytel is coming through.

Calm down. I’m getting to them.

So you do think he should be traded If the right deal comes along?
If anyone says that we shouldn't trade him for the right deal then I don't take them seriously. There's a right deal for every player on every list, but short of a godfather offer then no I don't think we should trade him. More to the point though, he's not even played a game, let alone cemented a spot or proven we can build a team around him in a game where key forwards are becoming less and less important. I'm really just saying don't lump all your expectations on him turning into the next plugger lest he instead become the next Watts.

Edit: I just want to add that I've taken your comments in good faith so I'd appreciate you doing the same rather than strawmanning my argument.

Last minute prediction:

Out: Paton

My prediction for this week... well, I think Guido Reni put it best...

Still don't get it.

Yeah that was me pulling at straws. I have had a better trade show up since I wrote it.

That’s probably resulting in;
Geel;
Stuv
Future 2nd

Stkilda;
Pick 6
Parfitt
Constable
Future 4th round

Trade 2;

Ross ends up at Carl for pick 11.

If he does turn into the next plugger though would be a shame to have traded him. Suppose I’ll just look forward to the day he dominates an AFL game and politely remind you of the time you compared him to Eli Templeton. 😉 Im sure you’ll be happy to be reminded too

Ok then. Why would Geelong do that. Are they all drunk?
