We traded our 43 and our future 2nd for Setterfield. Crows had to trade 40 to get 13. For us to get 13 means we couldn’t do the Setterfield trade.
Pick 43 was never going to stop that trade going through when we still had two future 3rds to trade.
I’m glad we went after MM and still very happy we have him (though not on the money he is getting) but in hindsight we probably could’ve done better with those assets.

Respectfully HUESTR,
I think Gov will be an absolute ripper for us. I have faith in both him and the decision to get him. :thumbsu:

I would, plays a number of positions, touch, quick, runs all day and is ready to go to the next level

Middle age? :)

We know that when SOS falls in love with you, he stays in love with you, so who knows?
I don't think though, that we need him at all. Makes for a nice acquisition because he can play but where is a real upgrade on what we have?

I may be wrong, but just don't see Tomlinson as a 'must have'
I saw Setterfield as a must have, McGovern a little less and Tomlinson, some way further back.

Unusual I know, given his age, just get the feeling, with his stature he is a late bloomer

I don't see him as a must have either, but he would be clearly best 22, not for where he plays, but what he releases

Aparently there are a few clubs into Levi.

I think it will be hard for us to justify a 3 year contract (you think he is chasing similar terms to Jones). Perhaps, to get Levi to stay, we sign him to another performance driven contract.

After all, Levi is playing for a club he has supported his whole life, who gave him a start, you would think that has some weight.

Fingers crossed 🤞

He has three kids and wife to support.

He should be cashing in on his maximum earning capacity now.

I like what he brings. When he is on he is a huge threat in the air, great defensively, with great speed. Those players are rare. Unfortunately he is bloody lazy.
Nah, not lazy.;)
He didn't get a good pre season due to injuries. He'll be right. He has said himself he feels terrible that he hasn't been able to contribute as he would like to.

Martin seems to be a conditional player prone to having quite games more often than not.

Pretty much a case of buyer beware.

Plays on a wing/HFF for GC - Not the most conducive environment for playing consistent footy.

He is skinny and sticks tackles at a regular rate, so it's not like he's a soft/lazy footballer...

I have no idea what Martin would play like outside of GC, but my guess is.....better.

You mean the same club that has paid him below market wages to get his body bashed by three or more defenders every contest for 6 years until we finally managed to draft another tall forward?

The same club that offered him a one year deal with trigger clauses because they thought they had enough young talls to cover every possible scenario?

Loyalty is a two way street, clubs cut players as soon as a potentially better offer comes along. Bit rich to claim a players owes us when we haven’t really backed them in at any stage of their career, while expecting them to play well above where they were drafted.

There are but how much does the average Aussie earn? 60k?
Yeah there's a reason so many footballers struggle after footy. I don't think Cas' propensity to take a big pack mark will help in accounting. Perhaps he could have a crack at being an office linebacker?

Love all the discussion around Levi. Has been an absolute warrior since coming back into the side and deserves the accolades. He is not simply a backup but best 22 at the moment and our fortunes have plenty to do with his efforts. Best of luck to him whichever way he goes, but hope he hangs around. Love watching him at the moment.
Sums it up well Blue Reaper. :thumbsu:

Are you watching him right at this very moment? Or are you talking about when he plays the football?

Levi’s not going anywhere.

If someone did make Levi an offer too good to refuse, I would not begrudge him leaving.

But we keep Sav...

MWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

What's wrong with that?

He has a family but we don't need to give him a ridiculous contract so that he can live off it. He'll continue to work like most footy players after they hang up the bootsma.

p.s. data says it's a bit higher than that because it's skewed by all the fat cats/mcgoverns

Kerr swap for Bailey Williams perhaps?
I'd imagine if Bailey Williams does request a trade, it would be to the SA sides. He's not exactly starved of opportunity with us (in and out of the senior side) so his only real motivator to leave would be for money (which I doubt you guys would pay much more than us) or homesickness. Kerr I think is more likely to just be a late pick swap or something like that, unless we also have a fringe player looking for opportunity.

Examples would be:
Cal Porter has done very well in the VFL but is yet to debut - tough inside mid with decent acceleration and strong tackling technique, his knock is questionable kicking, but this has improved immensely since he first joined us. Now probably an average kick, used to be as bad as an Auskicker
Brad Lynch is a fast, crafty outside runner. Has played off a back flank but shown a bit up forward too. Absolutely struggled with injuries ever since we drafted him, but when he played in the seniors at the end of last year, he really impressed with his speed, x-factor and goal nous. Still under contract for next year, and I'd imagine the Dogs definitely want to keep him, but if he believed there's more opportunity elsewhere then I wouldn't blame him. He's a WA kid though, might look to head home if he leaves us
