Daniel Rioli (Would be a more prominent player if he didn't have to share the small forward role with like 10 other players. He's a star!)
You could almost add Brent Daniels to the above list. He's starting to become a serious player. Just doesn't get talked about much because of all the other big names at GWS.
There are probably others you could add to the above list. That's just off the top of my head.
Papley is a very good player, but if given the option, you'd probably choose one of the above.
He's just the best that's potentially gettable. He's only worth a late first as an out of contract player. Might be best to wait it out for a year.

It’s all about quality now.
If we land Cogs as a free agent, then absolutely I want Papley with pick 7.
If we were to use pick 8 at the draft, we'd be hoping he'd turn out like Papley. We desperately need a forward like him. Why not actually just get Papley who is a known quantity at AFL level and able to have an immediate impact next year?
Not sure if he plays as a pure small forward, but I think Toby Greene and also Anthony McDonald-Tipungwuti might deserve a mention.

Lol cmon you cannot have Rioli ahead of Papley based on current output...and Daniels...lol.
Fantasia can be a matchwinner but also goes completely missing in games and is injured a lot.
Rankine hasn't played a game...in any case we would want someone who can have an immediate impact.
Bresut is on the decline not the right fit.
Wingard has been poor for a few years now and has attitude issues...Papley a better player.
Ablett is again old so why discuss?
Gresham is at best on par with Papley.
Cameron, Walters, Gray & Greene i'll give you probably are a bit better than Papley. But so what?
It's all relative. Is a Rozee-type player going to be available at pick 7-9 this year? Would seem highly unlikely, last year was an anomaly, ridiculous draft.
Doesn't seem like pick 8 gets a dynamic small forward in this draft. I haven't studied it yet, though, so happy to be informed.
Which staff members have we poached from the hawks this week? Clarko said one has been announced and one will be announced in 10 days

Anyway, if I'm Cogs, then I'd want to join the Blues. GWS aren't looking like they're going to win a flag. The Hawks haven't got the list for it, they'll finish between 5th-8th for a couple of years and then that's it, back down the pecking order. So Blues definitely would be the more attractive destination. But, I'm obviously not him so let's wait and see...

Just watching Clako on 360, he said we've poached someone (off field) from Hawthorn who's already been announced, and then it sounded like we have poached another who will be announced soon? Any ideas?
He said 1 was announced one hadn’t been and will be in 10 days or so. So there is another one

My thinking its too much for a small forward. Rather put that on the table for another midfielder who can rest forward.
Martin and Cogs will play forward and our current crew in who can also in Murphy, Cunners, Fisher, Gibbons, Kennedy, Setters, Dow .... Top ten is way overs.
He does come across as being honest, he really opened up on the staffing merry go-round. Basically admit he was in Sydney today to pinch a staff member from there
