As good as SOS is, surely Teague gets final say on who they should target. Afterall its Teague's arse on the line.

If it came down to an argument between coach and list manager, I'd want the list manager to win.

I dare say the coach would be more myopic, purely focusing on winning and perhaps relationships. But the list manager is focusing on list balance, demographics, $, contracts, trade cost, everything.

The suggestion is, that Teague may of won out, in the wanting to get Betts back to the Blues argument..

He surely can't be on that much money

Daniher would be on huge money.

Kicked 65 goals as a 23yo. And looked like he was getting better.

Every bit the key fwd to build around, who can also part-time ruck.

If it wasn't for his injuries, he'd be one of the very top fwds in the league and still only 25yo.

Don't pigeonhole Samo as a back. He may play there, he may not.
I think we've been crying out for another Samo, Martin would bring a similar kicking ability. Gives us great flexibility (HBF or Wing or HFF).
I'm not pigeonholing him, just going by where he has played since Teague took over and the fact that he did well there. Not sure why they'd play him there just to chop and change now. The focus seems to be finding a quality forward so it just doesn't make much sense to me to get one and then make him play in the backline.

Reckon they could hash out a mature discussion.

SOS: Don't want Betts, too old, costs a fair chunk of money, just another bloke I have to replace in 12 months.
Teague: Hey SOS, our forward line is a mess, if you can get Eddie over on a one year deal for a packet of chips, it's gonna go a long way towards getting our structures right.
SOS: I'd rather not, got my eye on Tiny McTinyhands with Pick 75.
Teague: Surely you can find an extra 5th round pick and we can have both. Then Eddie can show Tiny McTinyhands the ropes and we'll both look like geniuses.
SOS: Sounds good. Young Reid, wanna give me your fifth round pick for our seventh rounder? It's a good deal, I swear.

Talk is, that the Cats want 3 top 30 picks for Kelly?

Also that Matt Crouch is meeting with us?
will they want fries with that? and an option to return if not satisfied with performances (as long as they keep the receipt?) geelong, happy to try it on.....

I come in peace.

S.Gray would be an awesome pick up.

Has always been a whipping boy on our board. Not the most talented but will give you 110% most weeks. Doesn't help that he has been played as our key forward for the past couple of years (if you've watched Port games you know what I mean). In the guts he is a serious accumulator (end of 2015 for reference). in the right forward setup he'd be a genuine threat.

I think Samo went back to cover for our injuries, rather than Teague designating him a defender.
He was good there, and may well continue to play there. We need someone with his kicking ability delivering inside 50.
So Martin may play back. Or maybe he plays wing or half forward.

In a similar vein to kicking it to Gibbons at the top of the square...

Saw that on Twitter this morning (3 top 30 selections)

Geelong are wantonly taking the piss.

Unless Kelly signed a longer contract and I missed it, it's 2 picks in the top 20 or 1 in the top 10 and 1 in the top 30.

He's uncontracted now

It was eluded to on SEN(?) last week that Carlton hadn't filled one of our positions in order to attract Eddie on his retirement. Guessing it's Walkers old role.

I would also say that the arrival of Eddie Betts in a long term role, could do wonders for us in terms of getting the best from our indigenous players, being an attractive destination club for indigenous talent and for small forwards seeking an opportunity to learn from the best. Nevermind an extra 30+ goals per year.

At trade table its just about Adelaide posturing to its fans that they are upset at losing thier most popular player and 2nd best goalscorer this year rather than they are trying to shove him out the door?

Yeah i was wondering if that's what is going on...
Tippett didn't go quite as plan, Buddy seems to be coming to an end sooner than they would like
.. leaves them with Sam Reid and a few kids, at least tall forward-wise
Even if Buddy does finish up earlier than his contract the Swans still have to include the remainder of his contract in their salary cap.
