Like Jones. Williams has been more of a HBF, which we obviously don't need. But as a winger, he'd be just as good. I'd personally rather B. Hill.

Are we still chasing 'the Hill', carlton09 ? :moustache:

I think he plays anywhere through the flanks

Would be our best lockdown/attacking small defender, pacey/burst wingman with very good foot skills and has shown he is a dangerous small forward when used at the feet of KPF's

Really underrated

I said yolmen yesterday — look at his games this year before the shin splints — take the first game out where he played HF — they won 6/9 beat GWS Richmond Ran W/C to 8 point - he was averaging close to 30 with good tackle numbers and decent clearance rate — this guy under rated ? God size with not bad speed ..

Yep. I think sadly that like Cogs, Whitfield is a pipe dream and will - somehow on huge money and a mysteriously legal cap - stay at the Giants. But Williams - like Tomlinson - is the exact type they could lose and that GWS fans would hate to see go.

It's nice to get some welcome happy news after yesterday's awful tragedy about Danny Frawley.

And a B+ Mid on the cards...

Betts and Jacobs are both 50/50 chances. Depending on how cheap we get them. Wont happen till all our priorities are secured

Cameron will happen. May be through DFA or the rookie draft

Menagola?

There weren't many opportunities to see something. :)
Pickett has just turned 23, had more than his fair share of injuries and had played a total of 17 games in the AFL.

He had plenty to work with but seems the issue may have been more about him not wishing to work as hard as he should have.
Pickett was very fast...could tackle...could take a mark and wasn't a bad kick for goal.

Pickett may have ben his own worst enemy, but the skill-set was there.

I remember watching his 2017 preseason appearance vs Melbourne at Casey. Wasn't our best overall performance. Pickett only played about a quarter and a half. Back to back goals and was running circles against the man on him in the forward half. He was impressive that day.

Former Gold Coast forward Jack Martin is set to nominate Carlton as his preferred destination after meeting with the Blues last week.

Landing Martin will be a coup for the Blues as they continue to look to add mature talent to their emerging list, which improved rapidly in the back end of the season under new coach David Teague.

Peter Ryan on the money👍
Martin's manager phoned sos yesterday

In re to Papley:
It's happening.

Thanks for the information. Hope it is true. Always appreciate rumours from ITK posters even if they don't eventuate - lot of water to pass under the bridge before anything can be set in stone.

Just hope that Eddie doesn't get left behind in all of this. Still think he has at least one good year in him. He was my favourite player even before he played his first game for Carlton. Remember meeting him at a Carlton open day. Had my then 9 year old daughter with me. All the crowds were seeking out Fev and other favourites and Eddie was there with no crowds around him. He had that infectious smile and happy demeanor and took time to talk to my daughter and seemed genuinely interested in her. He instantly also became her favourite player and confirmed her as a Blue for life. Reconnecting Eddie and Carlton just makes so much sense.

Probably cannot fit Sauce as well but if the experts think that this year was an aberration and he genuinely can find the form he has had in the past he would be a great stopgap if Kreuzer cannot get on the park. Would have to mean the end of Phillips though (Sauce is only just over 3 years older than Phillips).

As long as these older players are not on top dollars (like the idea of low base salary with plenty of incentives so that if they have a great year then they can be well rewarded for it).

If we add these players to Martin, Papley, a B+ Mid (and there may also be the 'smokey' we don't see coming until the last minute) as well as some finds in the Draft we should be flying next year.

Interesting times ahead.

He clearly sees the appeal of the Teague Train?

Bulldogs also have a bunch of young talent to be fair and a few father sons/NGA players on the horizon that could add to that. If they were offering close to 600k and we offered under or around $500k it's interesting he want to come to us.

I guess the big club/crowd factor could play a part and also better interviews possibly with coaches etc?

It seems to me now that what is being alluded to, is not so much about players we've missed out on but for the reasons we did miss out.
It is a non-issue though. Whilst we haven’t managed the big name free agent, being at the bottom of the ladder wouldn’t not have helped

We’ve brought in numerous best 22/top30 players via trades - plowman, Marchbank, setterfield, Newman, Kennedy, McGovern.

We’ve also brought in early additional picks that netted us that will - curnow, Cuningham, Obrien, mckay, stocker

IMO, the above list of ins is comparable with just about any other team in the comp - particularly once the costs of trades is taken into consideration. People wanting more are just being greedy/unrealistic with their expectations

Let's not talk Saad down too much b/c he now plays for *. He was the one of those (Smith, Saad, Str... nope can't say his name) I wanted most. Very disappointed if talk was that he wanted us. But we obviously had bigger priorities.

Focusing on his strengths rather than his weaknesses, he has some skills few players do and would've been great for us. But the past is the past.

You know how it works around here Matty..

Saad as Blue = silky running machine that will create scoring opportunities from defence.

Saad as a Don = flashy, unnacountable type with questionable delivery.

😎

I can't see Whitfield leaving. He loves it there and the club has done a lot for him during that turbulent period a while back.
