Yeah it's going to be a squeeze with 2 new faces.
Ins from rd 23 side: Doc, Charlie, Jones, Papley, Martin.
Outs: Daisy, Deluca, then it gets tougher - Kennedy?, LOB?, Cas?,

Getting Gibbons in is tough if we get both the Martin and Papley deals done. Definitely no room for the Eddie dream either.

I’m seriously now leaning towards going to the draft after these 2 trades and not bothering with Butler types........waste of time. Keep pushing more kids through.

Just listened to Liam Stocker on the Carlton app.Very confident individual speaks like a seasoned veteran.Tipping a really big year for him next year.

I have high hopes for Stocker.

Think it was the Collingwood game, his second game, one of their players gave him a shove into the fence and gave him some lip. He got right in their face and made them regret it. Later one of the Pies players did a shocking tackle on one of our players (Daisy I recall?) and he again got straight into their face.

Oozes confidence.

Hope he earns more game time in 2020.

Will Ellis be another one of those, 'We dodged a bullet' scenarios? :)

Just get Schumacher back, develop him properly and we won't be too far behind.

I understand the sentiment, but unfortunately Schumacher will never get close to what Ellis has achieved. Although Schumacher could be gotten at a fraction of the price.

Not sure why the lack of love for Gibbo. Will play more midfield next year (where he has played his career) is best 22 all day.

I think all Carlton supporters appreciate Gibbons & what he has done but there’s no denying he remains in the middle of a fight to establish an AFL career. Bringing in specialist small forwards means he’ll have to make it as a mid/fwd which was always going to happen. Fingers crossed he can go down a similar path to Lambert. We know he’ll do everything in his power.

Or stay at the Tigers for how much? Wouldn't that be funny. I'd love to see it

Think Ellis is after that final "pay day" long term contract to see him into his 30's. He'll go to Gold Coast.

No lack of love for Gibbo. He's had a great year. However it is realistic that if we nab some of our forward targets that his opportunities may reduce.

Where are you getting your info from? He's played a total of one AFL game. Pretty much all Swans supporters either reckon he's not going to make it or the want him off their list.

I've never seen him, wouldn't know what he looks like. I just find though that statements such as those quoted above seem far more like projections and wishful thinking rather than objective analysis. Apologies in advance if I'm wrong.

Was raw in his draft year, was a project type, that then developed well in the WAFL. WC were also interested before the Swans took him earlier.

Has a strong leap, work ethic is very good, solid hands and has a fluent compact accurate kick for goal. I see very good upside and is an absolute bargain with a later pick

I had a molar removed yesterday. It broke into three parts on extraction. I felt every forceful jolt as each part was extracted from my bottom jaw.

Are you awake now?
Well you’ve given me something I can think about. Dare I say it. Something I can sink me teeth into.

Stocker sounds super driven which is a sign of a champion player rarely seen in 18/19 year olds. Combined with his natural ability and toughness I can see why we were so keen to get him in last year. Maybe next year he could develop into an Ollie Wines type with better disposal which is just what we need IMO.

On a side note from watching that interview it did seem that the whole "half-back experiment" with him has been well and truly shelved. Seemed a bit of an eyebrow raiser at the time. I wonder how much of the idea behind that was Bolts because when he returned from injury in the later rounds he was mostly played in midfield. Due to injury he didn't get a chance to play under Teague IIRC, would love to see how he performs in an improved team and in his natural role next year.

My understanding was that the halfback thing was predominantly to help work on the defensive side of his game rather than turn him into a defender

It seems we'll never know for sure.
He had his attributes although there were a couple of aspects of his game that did need cleaning up.

Not saying that he'd be as good as or better than Ellis, but we could have held onto him just a little longer.
Maybe we did move him on because we thought we had Ellis in the bag and another HBF'er may have been surplus. Who knows?

I also bow to those that see more of the NBs than I do, but I do think there is impatience with those that want TDK to emerge.

He played most the year as a 19 year old coming off a serious knee injury. Max Gawn doe example couldn't get a regular league game until he as 23. His time will come.
Rucks are the wicket keepers of AFL lists. I understand the negatives of too many, but I also don't want a repeat of eg. an Essesdon scenario of playing a Zac Clarke, or Richmond earlier in the year playing Chol/Balta or Geelong being slaughtered in the final by Grundy.
I like solid, competitive back up options.

Not impatient but just want to see opportunity.

If he is to become primarily a ruckman (which I feel he should) then he has to be given proper time to develop that craft and not be manoeuvred around the ground, simply to afford the other 2 or 3 ruckman time in the ruck.
It was hopeless seeing Phillips, Lobbe and TDK playing together, just as it was the year before when at times in the NB's we had all six backmen 190cm and over......It's ridiculous.
