Im of the opinion of that if the coach wants player X, the SOS should do everything he can to facilitate it.

Coach could argue the case of what characteristics he wants in a player, but rarely a specific player

Coaches generally want to be in the now, while any list manager is generally looking few years ahead

TBF Barnaby isn't wrong. Considering the top tax rate is 45%, child support to his ex wife for 3 or 4 kids worked out on his 200K yearly salary, suddenly his 200k isn't looking all that flash at all. and he still hasnt spent one dollar supporting his new partner and kids.

I qualified my statement a little later with the normal checks and balances of the list management team. However in the Betts case, it appears and move for him is hardly going to present a salary cap issue for the club or damage us in terms of our list management moving forward in what would probably be a one year deal, with a move to an off field role after that. In the Betts case SOS should appease Teague in this instance, IMO.

Agreed. Not at all sticking up for Barnaby. Just making the point that in his particular case, 200K doesn't go all that far, or as far as we think it should, even though it seems like a lot to most people.

not the point in question though is it? judd had me shaking my head in disbelief more than any other player but for mine hodge had the more all round impressive career.....
