Tends to go the other way late into drafts, with multiple picks being used to match bids. For example, Swans used 3 picks in the 30s to match a first round bid for Blakey last year, effectively moving everyone below them up 2 spots.

A llllooootttt of people here last year had written off duryea when he came to us. Look how good he was.

Schoenmakers may serve a purpose on our list. We cannot have a full squad of stars and best 22 players ffs.

Plenty of us also liked the pick up as we needed a small lockdown defender and Duryea was in the best 22 for the Hawks.
Shoey is not best 22 for the Hawks, he didn't play a game this year.

I don't think he's a forward at all and Trengove/Young are better KPD depth then Shoenmakers. I'd rookie him as a DFA at most.

I think hunter is an important player and I understand his value to the team, but if I had all three available next year and had to pick 2 I’d prefer lipinski and Smith. Their upside is huge, but that said there is room for all 3 in the side given where they play. I predict by this time next year lipinski and Smith will have overtaken hunter in terms of value to the team. Smith and lipinski are on the path to being A graders (at the least, hopefully elite) and I just don’t rate hunter in that bracket and I don’t think he ever will be. That is in no way “s**tting on genuinely good players”. It’s a difference of opinion I’m comfortable holding. We are all adults here aren’t we?

So ... it appears Bevo, the rest of match committee AND the players all rate Hunter much higher than we do.

Bob in 2005 & 2008 is a better comparison. On his bike and presenting the whole game. Not a great contested mark (objectively) but a fantastic target through the middle of the ground. Kicked 30ish.

Let's not forget that Schache is an excellent field kick. Having him kicking inside 50 is a handy tool

Im getting the distinct impression that Schache has all but been thrown on the scrap heap of history by the bigfooty list management team because he had a poor elimination final. You're only ever as good as your last game in here.

Freo currently do not have any 3rd rounders and will probably get a bid for Henry before their 2nd rounder.
They could be a good option for trading our 3rd rounders into a pick in the 20's to pay for Bruce.

Would be something like pick 28 (after GC compo and likely academy bids) for app. 48+53+55.
28 for Bruce, 34 for Keath, take our first to the draft and pick up a couple of speculative kids 4th round on.

That said the draft order changes so much so quickly these days and they will likely end up with another second rounder for Langdon so who knows.
