Interesting on the SEN breakfast show this morning that Grundy is up for grabs not just to South Australia for 7 year deal at right $$$.

I guess someone has bitten on his 7 year deal (another Melbournce club?) and basically the warning has gone to Pies he is firm on term and dollars and will walk next year to another club unless Pies meet the terms of his offer.

Don't think a trade gets done this year though.

We do need a ruckman but 7 years.....

Just posturing to get what he wants......and he'll get what he wants.
I doubt The Pies are bringing in one-gamer Cameron to cover for Grundy.
There may be talk but at the end that's all there will be.....just talk.

I'm not sure if Carlton09 and I are talking about the same player (I can only assume that we are) - however my opinion is that his reference to "7 years bad luck" was more in regard to the length of the deal we've proposed and no other link to the player.

This is 100% a watch this space.

Sounds a whole lot like Grundy, but you'd have to assume we'd be giving up 2x first rounders, and probably a bit more.

I posted a screenshot of it in response to someone asking if anyone had heard the Murphy rumours. I figured seeing exactly where the rumours were being generated from would have been enough to keep people from being concerned.

Obviously, some rumours like the bits from our ITK posters have legs. Other rumours like this one has legs, tail, body and a magical unicorn horn. I know which I would believe in.

Okay, time to have a crack at what some of these deals are worth and or possible scenarios. Based on us finishing mid table next year

Pick 9 + furture 3rd + 47= Papley + Pick 25 + 53. Rates Papley at Pick 14

Pick 25 + 42 = Martin + 58 + future 4th. Values Martin at pick 23

CG future 4th = Betts

This year pick 53, 58, 75, 84, 97, next year 1st, 2nd, 4th, etc. If a suitable target presents, we can use our 2020 1st as long as we get a future 3rd back

Other possible ins: Cutler pick 75

If * do manage to trade Daniher for a couple of firsts and that other dude for a decent 2nd rounder that's a nice start to a rebuild. If they were smart they could attempt to turn their two 2nd rounders into another high pick.

So, Collingwood are after Darcy Cameron hoping he can be a consistent B grade ruck in place of Grundy. Collingwood don't want to pay up as they have too many other players wanting a higher pay check.

We want Grundy as he's better around the ground and not injury prone like Kreuzer. Grundy is 25 nearly 26 years old and has played 24, 26, 20, 21, 19 games in the last 5 seasons. Very durable. If this is the mystery man, do we cough up picks and money wise?

How ridiculous is all this crap seriously!? A player like Joe Daniher says he wants to go to your club and then Sydney says it’s a new development. Like a player comes out and says I want to go to a club without having a deal in front of them.

If the AFL seriously want this show for clicks and attention they should make trade period 3 days from Monday next week to Wednesday close of business.
Clubs talk all year and it ramps up during finals. Shortening the trade period itself puts pressure back on the clubs to get deals done. This whole shit show is so stage managed it’s not funny. It’s actually frustrating

Grundy would cost an insane amount. I doubt it's real, and I also wonder whether that king's ransom would be worth it. Can't see how we'd have the assets, really.

I'm more inclined to go with buying a value ruckman to bash and crash when we're ready to win. The old Clark Keating, Shane Mumford, Toby Nankervis, Darren Jolly kinda move. Put the quality elsewhere, just get a meat-truck of a man to smash into the other team's ruck. Only needs to work for September.
