Haha, I think maybe the Mars bar would be stickered at $5, but when you took it to the register he‘d say “$7 bucks”, but you really want it, so you say “I have $6”, and he’d go “the Mars bar isn’t available for less than $9”

The funniest part would be at 1 minute before closing time, the milk bar owner overrules Dodo and you get the mars bar for $1.20....

I’m not really edumocated re Martin. Is there much certainty he will deliver?

You have a big sample size with Martin, he’s a good player with good skills, has struggled with consistency and possibly motivation. I would hope that we could get an improvement on his last two seasons at least.

Very confident Papley will be a very good player for years to come.

It blows my mind that some people actually think we should be foregoing our pursuit of Papley/Martin (two players of genuine need) in favour of participating in a weak draft.

Our list could not be more stacked with young talent, it’s just a bizarre mindset.

Whilst l think we should chase papley and Martin lm not sure it’s such a weak draft. Doesn’t have the top end of last year but a number of the recruiters are happy with the talent through to roughly pick 30. It may well just be a fairly typical average draft.

We won’t know for a few years if it’s weak or not. It seems we, as Carlton supporters want to believe its weak because we downgraded our first rounder and traded our second.

I personally thought this years Championships were the poorest quality i've seen. For sure some decent things will come out of this draft, but we are very lucky(or planned well) that this year is a player acqisition year for us.

I think we can still do both

No reason we can't add Papley and Martin with the majority of this year's currency

If nothing eventuates that is worth next year's 1st rounder, SOS could be inclined to do another Stocker type deal.

Take a kid late in the 1st round this year, while still holding a presence in the 1st round next year

On face value, given where we sit in our development as a club, getting Papley, Martin and Betts to the club and nothing else would not be a good trade/draft period for us. It's a one dimensional approach and only gives us two mid to long term players. I'd rather bust than pay 'overs' and, perhaps, trade pick 9 for a double dip. Do the next year's first for martin and their second rounder trade and cut our losses on Papley. Maybe we could trade for Bonar as well.

I think it is still a balance, you can still find good prospects late in any draft
