Whats the benefit to North - what am I missing?

They come out well in front in terms of nett points if Melb finish mid table or below next year.

They also feel they can get similar talent between picks 8-26 this year but still may be able to still move into the teens this year yet.

It really depends on what they are to be used for.
It's possible that North have something in play now for that future 1st.
Teams like GWS would sooner a future first than for more picks right now. They don't need much and are getting a relative freebie with Green.

Imagine if all we had to look forward to this trade period was Ellis & Tomlinson?
Papley is prefect and Martin could come off big time if used properly.

It has to be said that Melbourne will get a much softer draw next season on account of finishing 17th this year. Would be very satisfying if this backfires on Norf !

Norf have a lot more to lose if this goes pear shaped for them than The Dees (IMHO)
