Adelaide stocking up on 2020 4th rounders. Could be making a BIG play.

😂

Make it 4 days. Monday to Thursday.

Monday is the official presentation to clubs by the AFL, housekeeping, speed dating, media can talk about all the expected deals.

Totally agree, but I would shift the initial meeting to the previous Friday when Free Agency starts, then 4 days of trading.

He's taking about the double quote by a mod a post above.

Ahhh.

Yeah, that one's odd.

KoteX's two posts were 6 days apart, not sure there's any discrepancy in suggesting Essendon were interested in Papley and he wasn't completely against Essendon last week, and suggesting that Papley to Carlton is now 99% done today.

J.Martin is not worth our Future 1st Round Pick even if we get a 2nd Round Pick back. Martin has played 100 games for Gold Coast and is currently a C+ grade player. Evidently, a change of clubs might help his form but we should not give up a 1st round pick for him.

I would rather trade our 1st round pick next year for Wines who is A grade talent. If we got all our trade targets including Wines, I think Carlton will make the 8 next year.

Ins: Betts, J.Martin, Papley, Wines

Team for next season:

B: Plowman------------------Jones---------------------Newman

H: Docherty----------------Weitering------------------Marchbank

C: Dow----------------------Cripps---------------------O'Brien

H: Cuningham-------------C.Curnow------------------J.Martin

F: Betts---------------------McKay---------------------Papley

Foll: Kreuzer, Wines, Walsh

Bench: E.Curnow, Setterfield, Murphy, McGovern

No Simmo surely he gets a gig

Next year's fourth round must be an absolute beauty...
The players in the 50-70 range are absolutely fine. Like, just about viable.

Massive chance to be ok

looking to deal themselves into the third round

"In an unprecedented move, Justin Reid has lodged paperwork for a groundbreaking trade - swapping Adelaide's 2020 third round pick, with two future fourth round picks already secured by Adelaide in other deals. Reid has gone on record with AFL Trade Radio, stating that this move will allow the club to make the most of a shallow and talentless draft pool. Negotiations were "laborious" and "frankly exhausting", as Reid invested significant man-hours in convincing club officials of the necessity of trading with themselves. Ultimately, they determined that a guaranteed win/win outcome was preferable to getting brutally exploited by opposition list managers."

Oh dear, this caller on trade radio who supports GCS and loves Martin sounds like he’s about to jump off a cliff.

He’s heart broken and the host sounded like they were about to laugh.

Feel for McClure and Dal Santo - without doubt the most engaging panel on Trade Radio, and they've had to fill 3 hours of content a day with absolutely no trades being done while they were on air.

If true that most of these deals are now agreed to, but the AFL is stalling to pad out their telecast tomorrow night, then there is no doubt in my mind that they need to just cut the trade period right back.

Make it 4 days. Monday to Thursday.

Monday is the official presentation to clubs by the AFL, housekeeping, speed dating, media can talk about all the expected deals.
Tuesday can see some of the simple pick swaps and token player movements.
Wednesday the major pick swaps that will enable marquee trades, and the good-ordinary player trades.
Thursday is the big build-up to all the marquee trades dropping in the evening.

If they're going to "manage" it, manage it properly and make it 4 days of activity instead of almost 8 days of dead air.

It's like the time they did the top 10 countdown on draft night so got in advance all the kids the clubs had nominated were their top 10.... did see on the AFL bill this month a few professional choreographers being paid...
