It’s different because Teague will be coaching the on-field football team whilst Liddle is the CEO which is purely an off-field role. Coaches have plenty of say in recruits, CEO’s shouldn’t.
Not too long ago, on this board, Liddell was being praised for the professional attitude he displays, now he's the bogeyman.
I doubt too many here have any inside info on the behind the scenes situation.
Why not just let the Bakers bake and save any criticisms you may have of anyone in the club until we get a clearer indication of what will happen and what caused it.

Because the club has let its fan base down the past 20 years and every time we let the baker bake the bread the bread ends up either burnt, mouldy or just plain inedible.
There’s trust issues here, and for good reason.

Literally half those players were not traded for.
The other half I very much doubt you could understand why they were traded for.
I expected more from someone with an encyclopedic knowledge of the game. Not sure why. Maybe some pages were ripped out.

He’s done a damn good job turning things around, with the list and TPP, in quick time. If these rumours are true, at first instance, it seems to me like it might be a failure on the part of our most senior executive official to manage the situation and others. I think I’d prefer that our CEO is goneski.
What a massive own goal this. Very disappointing. Le Gioudace should grow a pair, and tell Lloyd to pull his head in.

Since when do list managers boost membership.
SOS has rebuilt the list incredibly well. We are in a very strong position with so many quality youngsters on the list.
However, let’s not pretend that there hasn’t been an “above the law” type vibe about SOS for his entire tenure. He has seemed largely answerable to... well, nobody, which is not a healthy way to run a football club.
If SOS does in fact move on, a Beatson-Agresta combo could actually suit this stage of our list build even better (both in identifying and targeting mature players with upside from the state leagues, and prioritising development via the rookie list).

Bolton set the rot in.
Bad performances put the spotlight on everyone.
It's under Boltons tenure that the questions and looking elsewhere started.
MLG tied himself to Bolton and should have had a look at his position when Bolton was ousted.
MLG will have to do the same if Silvagni is to go.
You're either part of the problem or part of the solution and there's no evidence of MLG being part of any solution.

I’ll go a step further, if SOS is shown the door, the board as a group need to go. Incompetence personified.
Hard to argue because we're in no way showing ourselves as any part of the solution other than attaining key personnel at a premium cost.
Anyone can do that.
If SOS does leave and I think he shall, it's a direct fault of our board for allowing things to get out of hand....and no....MLG being SOS's mate doesn't count for anything as far as the club is concerned.
If the club and its history had a mouth, what would it say and what would it want? That's the question that should be asked and without any ego attacxhed.

You said every non drafted player had failed, though. You can list as many as you want, fact of the matter is around 5 of our best 22 came via trades.
And of the failures...
Kerridge did a job for a number of years. Lamb the same. Wright better than both. Lobbe and Phillips were depth only behind Kreuzer. ASOS was purely short term. And these players cost, collectively, Menzel and a few fourth round picks.
There were some poor selections in the mix too, Palmer, Gorringe, Smedts, Shaw, Mullet and O'Shea mainly. Pickett, Sumner, Fasolo and Garlett were risk/reward types that failed, and are all small forwards. Lang is current depth. Deluca was a mid-season rookie on a 12 week contract to cover a season-ending injury...
You can shitcan a bunch of these players if you like, but the context of their selection is just as important. Negligible cost, short term contracts, fleshing out the list with every expectation they'd make way sooner rather than later and the onus was on them to step up if they wanted more.

SOS has been instrumental in rebuilding this club, and although i was one of the whiners of late when we came away from trade week with only one target met (which apparently wasn't SoS' anyway) I have always had faith in what he has done to get players across to Carlton. A lot of the rubbish posted about his 'failures' (followed by a list of names now gone) have been largely misunderstood in terms of getting deals done, you have to take salary dumps, or bargain basement deals to get the players you really want.
Anyway, as SOAP mentioned, SOS has been, I feel, a rem-anent of the 'Old Carlton' and the Legacy of the Silvagni name still has weight. BUT, you can't have someone calling shots and not having any accountability, as well as being seen as favoring his own boys, whether he is or not.
If true, I'm thinking Cain Liddle's call on Betts' was the right call, but not his call to make. His first Blight.
He is not employed to recruit players and should stay the hell out of it and run the club which he has done pretty well until now.
But I really think the time to 'move-on' will largely be SOS' decision, and probably a good thing before his youngest Son is up as a father Son selection and he is not seen to be playing favorites.
He can leave the club knowing he has done what he set out to do, and done a pretty good job of it too.
