The Carlton way is to “make someone an offer they can’t refuse.” I’m sure it’s almost impossible, but I’d love nothing more than to pry Wells from Geelong. I love SOS and what he’s achieved, but in my opinion Wells is the #1 recruiter/list manager in the game. It would be massive if we were to get him. No one would have thought that Russell would leave Hawthorn a few years ago - let’s use that same proactive approach with Wells.
What has Wells done lately, his identification of 18yo talent in the last 10 years is poor at best.

Well it's pretty frustrating that once again a club legend leaves the club in acrimony.

Don't know if (rightly or wrongly) that Liddle can ever regain the trust of the supporters.

Loguidace needs to show some real leadership as President in the coming weeks, otherwise his tenure could be under threat too.

Thought SOS was doing a good job. Set us up for long term success.

The fact that we came home with a wet sail in the back half of 2019 shows that the list build was on the right track.

I think the board may have made a huge mistake by siding with Liddle over SOS.

Any membership gains Liddle had hoped to make by bringing in Eddie will be offset by what they will loose with SOS departing in acrimonious circumstances.

To my way of thinking Liddle is now well and truly on notice.

The question I'd like answered is why Liddle was getting so heavily involved in list management decisions?

It's absolutely unacceptable and outside the scope of his role.

Although, I did read a day or two ago that SOS was perhaps more annoyed at the Betts recruitment, which doesn't make a lot of sense to me.

Greatest own goal since Harris and Jezza were forced to leave. You can replace bureaucrats(liddle). You can't replace mavericks and entrepreneurs. SoS was 2 steps ahead of any other list manager in the AFL. There is no conflict of interest between a list manager and his sons. One of them clearly has earnt his place and the other is 1 or 2 seasons away from facing the major delisting decision. The father and his sons would have hardly any interaction on a daily basis

I don't think Liddle will last 2 years. It wouldn't surprise me if Sayers is challenged and willingly steps aside for a higher profile president who co opts SoS on the board if SoS goes back to real estate. SoS will now be outside the tent pissing in (....with the Godfather theme playing in the background)
