How Long Can We Stay with Holden?

Answering the main question, it seems that General Motors has made a commitment to supply parts and service warranties for about 10 years. I think this would indicate that GM would love to give money to collingwood for that time, although there are questions about whether there will enough staff on the books to use up all the free tickets and associated stuff that sponsors get as part of a sponsorship. There have been indications that the reduction of 600 employees will mean that a smaller group of executives will be spending most of their weekends going to collingwood matches and they will be encouraged to invite an increasingly larger group of family and hangers-on to fill corporate boxes. For those in and around the club, there should be a greater chance of being roped into filling corporate boxes or being invited into corporate days as freebies. There may even be a chance for those living in the gutter to gain access to a greater and wider range of food from hospitality associated with pie corporate events....

General Motors ONLY know Collingwood through Holden's sponsorship.

ABC radio still refer to Ikon as Princes Park. As they should.
ABC radio refer to everything by its original name - it's in their charter, they can't use sponsorship names.

Marvel Stadium = Docklands
Optus Stadium = Perth Stadium
AAMI Park = Swan Street Stadium or Melbourne Rectangular Stadium
ANZ Stadium = Olympic Stadium
Metricon Stadium = Carrara
TIO Stadium = Marrara
UTAS Stadium = York Park
Blundstone Arena = Bellerive Oval

and so on.

The question is, why are other media outlets not using the stadiums original names?
Surely they aren’t all being paid to use the commercial name.

Because other media outlets don't have a specific charter against it.

They're not obligated to use sponsor names on commercial networks (in fact sometimes some entities or media outlets will deliberately not use a name if it clashes with their own sponsor arrangements) but there's generally no reason for them not to when a stadium is commonly known by its current sponsorship name.

so when you say "know", you mean "know" as in the old testament sense?..... e.g Abraham "knew" Sarah....or had sexual relations with or to put it bluntly Holden f$#$d collingwood....

What I mean is Collingwood is not well known outside these shores if at all. The management at GM would only know of Collingwood through Holdens sponsorship.

if at all.... americans are famous for not knowing anything about any sport outside the USA. In fact, knowing anything at all outside the USA.

In the old days we, Australia, tried to forge our own identity. Yes it was tied very much to the English history we have, just check the names of so many of our cities.
But there was a couple of decades we really tried to break away, looked inwards and tried to understand what and who we are.
Then came TV.
Then came fast food outlets.
Then came social media.
And we lost ourselves in Americanism.
we eat it, we speak it, we follow its trends.
And yet, no matter how we try and suck up to them, they barely understand we exist. Or they think we are a nation of snow covered mountains that excel in the Winter Olympics.
Such a pity we never formed a true Australian identity.

There's a thing called the green card lottery. It means that instead of living on the outskirts of the dominant empire, you can become a part of it and walk the world as a US citizen... I applied a couple of times but a white guy from australia doesnt meet the diversity criteria so it's hard.... but one day my lucky number will come up and i will be a second class australian no more.
