A lot of teams could claim it.

West Coast’s WA state of origin side? Probably should have won a flag or two more with that list.

Geelong played in 4 GFs in that time and were the undisputed home and away specialists.

Carlton played 3 GFs, but actually won one of them. Consistently good during the period. Overrated perhaps because of SOS

Many people rate North as the team of the 90s, mostly because of Carey. 2 premierships and one of the biggest chokes of all time.

The crows? Another state of origin side that in general probably under performed in relation to the actual talent in they put on the park. Were extremely fortunate to come up against St Kilda in their first GF and were even more fortunate to be spectators to Norf Norfing it up in 98.

Would have easily been the Eagles if the VFL didn't make sure all the top players went to Victorian clubs

St Kilda would have won 10 flags if it wasn't for the umpires

Geelong? Reckon you’re being very generous, considering they got absolutely annihilated in every GF they played in the 90’s

Best forward flank of the AFL era - I’d have him over Hird in a heartbeat
I think when he was drafted back to Adelaide it was a win win win for All 3 teams involved. Jarmen->Adelaide Salmon->Hawthorn Wellman->Essendon

Probably, but they absolutely annihilated every team they played prior to that. So consistent during the home and away seasons of that period. Plus, Ablett was playing.

Which top players were missing? Who would actually been dropped from the State of Origin side that you had cruising around the park.

I grew up following Hawthorn during our 80s era when players of elite caliber were yearly additions to the team. So although most of us back them immediately recognized there was something truly special about Jarman, as a young guy I just assumed players like that came along on a regular basis and it was no big deal - how wrong I was!

No player in football history ever made the impossible look easy more than Darren Jarman did. Nobody.

Bairstow, Bewick, Allen, Kickett, Winmar, Spalding, Dorotich would all have probably gotten a start. I'm sure I've missed a few too. But yes, it's hard to say who would've been dropped.

Cyril and Franklin are the only players that have come close

Yeah both pulled off amazing s**t that would've made Jarman proud but neither made it look like they were casually strolling around their local park like he did. He's the Mark Waugh of footy although he performed at a comparatively higher level, up there with the best of the best.
