Just watched that last kick by Long again. For sure it was a crap kick, but faaaar out our small forwards were atrocious.

The kick at least gave some players a chance to get front and centre. Three of them ran straight past the contest hoping to get a cheap one out the back. Kent backed right into the marking pack and made himself useless. Marshall, our f*%king ruckman, is the only one who got himself into a semi dangerous spot. Dees have three at the drop of the ball and waltz it out.

I’m filthy with that loss.

Outcoached yet again - not giving any secrets away but here's the simple defensive plan that will work against St Kilda - keep your defenders deep - we will kick it long and give you a chance to intercept. (Apparently its all down to Geary as well).

Lots of things to say about many players (Clark, Billings, Battle King, Membrey, Hind Long etc etc) - can't be bothered.

Just hopeless all round mate. Been sick of King dropping marks he should take for weeks and many opportunities for him tonight and was absolutely demolished. That's fine, just don't play him if he isn't up to it. Clearly not offering us anything.

He has been poor to be honest. Yes, he is a first year player, but he is soooooooooo ordinary when he has hands to it uncontested. Show me any great forward in history that was this poor when they go hands to it and couldn't clunk it. His aerial ability is diabolical at the moment. Not good signs.

Problem is the other options we have are worse. Membrey has been utter junk this season.

I agree king was poor tonight. I just cant believe we persisted kicking straight to him.

It was seriously so consistent you could pick every play fwd.

a) not put it on his head all night
b) if you are going to put it on his head, maybe Hind or Kent could be about to at least contest the crumb. Non existent tonight
c) maybe put it out in front of King occasionally? Too much to ask obviously.

Hill turned over every possession in the last quarter. He's terrible. Long no good, Hunter was like Newnes late Saints career, Membrey is gone, looks like he's already got a contract somewhere else. Another 4 years of pain coming up.

Let them stew on it for 6 months. Might give our coaching staff a chance to come up with plan B.

We need more quality midfielders.

What has happened to Jack Billings?

They aren't good enough in a normal season. We won't play finals for a while if we don't make these ones. Our list is still well below even Melbourne and is a patchwork of crap coving serious structural issues. Probably need 4 players Jack Steele quality or better. We have one. Phillips was probably our next best mid and most seem to have him delisted.

Agree on the draft call, we all need to move past that.

I hear where you’re coming from re young players and the level head you have is impressive although I feel if we are ever to be a long term successful sporting club we can not let losses like that slide and make excuses for them.

If we were playing a top 4 side then fair enough but that match was there for the taking and considering a finals spot was on the line the performance was just not acceptable.

There is a reason why we are the laughing stock of the league, witnesses it first hand tonight.

Behind closed doors, absolutely. Not expecting Ratts to pull the team aside and say "It's okay boys, you're learning."
Out in spectator land though I'm not going to sit here and crack the sads because a bunch of kids lost a game.
For every loss against Melbourne there's a win against Port. That's just the reality of it.

Bye has come at the perfect time... The lack of quality training is showing, we've steadily dropped off since the Port win.

I believe in the group but they need to get some mojo back.

Needed to run and handball a little more tonight, didn't think we were bold enough to run and carry.

Got alot of players out of form, Billings, Clark, Butler is down, Membrey to name a few.

Jack Steele was enormous, fantastic game.

We'll be ok but we need to put in some serious work going I50.

Give it a rest with the Hill bashing as well, what the **** is up with that. Clearly one of our best tonight, Melbourne set up so well behind the ball. He was always looking forward but when we're not giving him anything he's forced to go sideways, then he creates space to get it back and try again.

Hind should have gone out and probably could have done with Bytel in the middle.

as if this is the sole reason we lost.

I don't think we're picking on him- he is just not up to it yet. If you're given senior games, you need to perform, not drop every mark you get your hands on -might as well play Lonie at FF. Bytel has more potential at the moment and should have stayed in the side over King. Next year maybe for Max.

Which is fine. Just don't play him in the seniors when we have finals to play for. He isn't up to it. Lost count the amount of times he easily gets pushed out of a contest. Was poor against Brisbane and backed it up with an equally shocking performance tonight. Get him out of the side.

Lost to North by 2 points. Lost to Freo by 6 points. Lost to Brisbane by 2 points. Lost to Demons by 3 points. Beat Suns by 4 points.
1 win out of 5 close contests does not bode well for us. We must get better at closing out tight contests. We’ve just shot our selves in the foot majorly. So mad, my head is throbbing! Fuuuuuuuckkkkkk!

So very st Kilda tonight. Few pieces of blind luck didn’t go our way but at the end of the day both teams deserved to lose anyway. Terrible decision making by saints.

My only positive is that if we have played terrible two weeks in a row and have been in both games. We start playing good footy again and we got gws and will scrape into finals which exceeds pre season expectations by a long shot. Let’s not lose hope yet.
