I wonder if he heard 'touched ball' and thought he had to play on? Because there was no other reason for him to go so quickly with 2 forwards coming at him.

He saw a Collingwood player 40 metres up the ground, 25 metres in the clear and tried to move it on quickly. Which was the right thing to do.
His execution though was just terrible.

His execution though was just terrible.

The non free/mark to Thomas and the free against Adams both cost goals.

On balance the umpires did a good job.

Correct. I get the idea of playing on & there was an obvious free target ahead. However with the game in it's late stages & the mark being manned vigorously. He should have played it safe & gone back on his mark & reassessed.

It was the only game at Optus Stadium that I’ve seen where the umps didn’t give WC an armchair ride. The umpiring was pretty balanced I think. And even from our perspective, we can pick out a few frees we should’ve been awarded and some frees awarded against us where we were hard done by.
