Apart from the Butter Chicken I reckon this is pretty much what we all said about J Steven isn't it?

"This one is a cracker" ............. where you heading with this? The Rance story still has some legs despite the suggestion it was a rumour. Did the person who went early with that get the wobbles up when it started to spread? But then again, Rance is no midfielder so might need to file that under Chicken Korma instead of Butter Chicken.

Pretty simple, he protected his body in the second half of the year to gtee deal with the lions
so the club was paying him for his next role at a different club
if its for a pick in the 50s, he walks to the draft and i am over it
his attitude this year was 100% selfish and self preservation - no favours owed here

I don't think is what happened. Basically the team has cotton wooled him at the smallest twinge for the last two seasons. It wasn't **** trying to avoid damage, it was the medical team trying to stop him breaking down ( for obvious reasons). We don't actually know how good a player he is because he has never had enough continuity. Some players just don't have the durability to play many games regardless of their talent. I wouldn't be averse to giving him one more season to see if he could get it together (Maccarthy playing 36 games in two seasons at brissy after take 6 years to get 27 at the Cats is irritating). Maybe we can send him up to the Lions for a season to get his body sorted then bring him back?

If no particular order, but if a midfield player on the list below was prepared to go to GWS + we send them our primary first round pick this year + a late first or second rounder 2021 .... would Geelong entertain getting Treloar in with our remaining 2 first rounders this year to load up our midfield? (And replace a Parfitt type).

Just seems interesting that Geelong are now considering paying out Steven (St Kilda still covering a chunk of his salary). Can't see a salary dump and a bloke outside best 22 (Jack) is really part of anything related to Cameron deal. If stories are correct, and Pies are prepared to carry a chunk of the Treloar salary, it makes you wonder whether we're on the sniff. The Pies seem to be more focused on picks and salary cap pressure rather than specifically saying they're after players.

And if Treloar has sparked Geelong's interest, I wonder if that changes the thinking on Higgins? If Pies are picking up a chunk of salary and we use the Higgins money on Treloar, we might not be too far off being able to get him in.

+ Treloar In = Our window remains well and truly open. I know we're all hoping for the best, but you just get the feeling there will be some collateral damage and Geelong will not walk from any commitment they've given Cameron to get him in the door.

Really hope we don't get Treloar instead of Higgins. He finds the ball a lot but he kicks it worse than Danger and doesn't have Dangers contested ball getting ability. Yes Treloar is a better player than Higgins, but the team needs Higgens skills more than it needs Treloars.

I don't think any pick we have replaces a parfitt in this draft. Strong no to trading him. Not sure Menegola is what gws need either.

It'll be picks not players. We have more than enough draft capital

That was overs. If I was port I'd quietly trade that pick out for something in 2021 change the offer to a 3rd rounder. It's bad faith negotiating by dodo. No other list managers would bother getting involved for the benefit of picking him up in the draft.

Did his wrist injury that required him to return home & have surgery occur before or after the strong linking to Brisbane?

Trying to work out if the connection to Brisbane started to get stronger before his season was declared over, and wonder if maybe that contributed to the decision for him to return to Geelong?

Reports from the scratch matches indicate that Cockatoo was available for selection in terms of fitness, but there was questions over his form & drive within the scratch matches - if his move to Brisbane was all but done & dusted, could he have been returned to Vic so as to not be a distraction to others in the hub & such?

There was talk of 'wrist surgery' but I think I saw some social media posts of him soon after, cleaning his house windows with zero signs of recent surgery.

All hearsay, of course.

Sounds like he might be a bit of a locker room cancer - if you're trying to build a culture like the Dockers are, your desire to get rid of him is bigger than your desire to seek value

It doesn't really matter how big the risk is. His value hasn't fallen that much. Look at Daniher. 1 year older, played about the same amount of games and went for Pick 7. Cameron did nothing this year and 2 years older than Hogan - 2-3 first rounders.

38 for the AFL club list sizes, if you go by Adrian Dodoro's current feel on one of the biggest issues facing clubs as Trade Period starts.

It's still not entirely clear how many list spots clubs will be able to take into 2021, which leaves several teams (and their players!) in some form of limbo.

I might be totally wrong (not for the first time), but I thought it was suggested last year when that Brownless agreed to be delisted & re-rookied that there would have been an agreement on a 1-year contract extension as an acknowledgement/thanks for him doing so
