We're probably not going to fill the list, even with Mackay, so signing him makes little difference.Just reduces our available picks at the draft unless we take full compliment.

If we are taking 3 picks we better not let 23 go to wasteWe have some dead wood to clear in 2021. Also, we have Smith off contract next year I think. I also reckon the club might be looking to move Scholl and Hamill up the ground. Clearly we don't rate this draft highly, looks like 3 main draft picks now.
We do keep our cards close to our chest don’t we?I'm not sure WTF the club thinks it's doing. The news about Hinge came from nowhere.
The only thing which makes sense would be moving a player like Mackay/Seedsman/Davis, who has no future at the club beyond 2021, onto the rookie list (as per the AFL's announcement yesterday). That would free up a senior list position for signing a DFA (i.e. Hinge).
We've obviously offered him 2 years or more because otherwise he accepts their 1 year offer......very popular among their group so no doubt they would have liked to keep him.Hinge was also offered an extension to stay at Brisbane and declined so he could come here, so we must have a fair bit of interest in him

The don't want to take Borlase in the ND, unless another club bids on him. Their strong preference is to take him as a Cat B rookie.Pick 40 on Borlase
Looked pretty good at the Championships in 2016 and was always one of their better players when I watched the NEAFL in 2018 and 2019.Is Mitch Hinge good?
Yes, yes they most certainly do!We do keep our cards close to our chest don’t we?
Reading the article, it appears that it needs to happen in time for the 2nd DFA period (1-2 December). It's not open slather for mid-season changes.do you know mate with this new rule to be able to move senior list players to the rookie list, does it have to be done by a certain date, or could we hypothetically move someone before next years mid season draft if we feel there is someone we would like to take?
Most asked the same thing about Keays this time last year......Is Mitch Hinge good?
I've tried to find anything about him, and can'tMost asked the same thing about Keays this time last year......
To which the honest answer was & still is "no - but he always gives 100%". What made him look so good early this year was the fact that he was putting in 100% effort, which contrasted starkly with the likes of Crouch x2 (and many others), who were barely giving 20%.Most asked the same thing about Keays this time last year......
The problem with that is it overrates Keays.
Don't get me wrong, he was almost the only player that could hold his head high in the first month or two back from the Covid break. He is however a very limited player. His skills are fairly ordinary. He's just a good trier. Look at his form in the last 6 weeks of the season to see the norm.
Players like Borlase might not make it, but might have a higher ceiling than a guy like Keays. I hope we don't think Hinge can be Keays like rather than have a greater scope.
One thing is for sure, if Keays is still getting a game in 18 months time, we are in all sorts of trouble as a club.
Not looking too hard...I've tried to find anything about him, and can't
(and to the nufties who disliked my question in the other thread, it wasn't deliberate, I thought I was responding to WW in a different one - so go fu** yourselves you self righteous bunch of campaigners)

What a clusterf**k. Pay him out to free up a list spot and can't even get that right. Takes up a rookie slot during draft period. Can someone please explain to me why Bryce Gibbs has been kept on the rookie list despite retiring?
Vader will be beside himself...with glee.... another list spot freed up.Wow, some very cool admin moves happening from the Crows. Some sort of cheeky rookie list spot for Bryce Gibbs who'll then go onto the inactive list and frees up a spot during the supplementary period. Are other clubs allowed to do that, and if so why haven't they done it?

Gibbs and Mackay taking up list of slots.
2 mid season drafts in 2021.... canny move by the clubWhat a clusterf**k. Pay him out to free up a list spot and can't even get that right. Takes up a rookie slot during draft period.

Because we still have to pay out the last year of his contract, we didn't have enough room to include it under the 2020 salary cap, and we aren't allowed to pay players who aren't on our playing list(s). This way he's off the main list, and $80k of his salary is excluded from the cap.Can someone please explain to me why Bryce Gibbs has been kept on the rookie list despite retiring?
